'' Turkey claims that 16 small islands in the South Aegean were illegally seized by Greece in 2004, which was also reaffirmed during a heated discussion in Parliament at the end of last month by Defense Minister İsmet Yılmaz, who was pushed hard by opposition deputies.

According to Turkey, the islands illegally seized by Greece are Eşek, Koyun, Hurşit, Bulamaç (Farmakonisi), Fornoz, Nergizçik, Kalolimnoz, Keçi, Sakarcılar, Koçbaba, Ardacık, Gavdos, Dhia, Dionisades, Gaidhouronisi and Koufonisi.

“The sovereignty over these islands, islets and rocky formations was transferred from the Ottoman Empire to Turkey as its successor,” the minister said, underlying that the de facto situation would not change the legal status of the islands.
A number of islands were left to Greece via Article 12 of the Lausanne Treaty and in the 1947 Paris Treaty. The Dodecanese islands cited in Article 15 of the Lausanne Treaty were transferred from Italy to Greece in 1947 by the Paris Treaty. ''

At the moment, Türkiye is officially under invasion of Greece.

The Islands were occupied by Greece in 2004, and Greece annexed them in 2009.

The Defence minister of Greece, Mr. Nikos Dendias, paid a visit to the annexed island of Eşek in 11 january 2015.

A minister , Mr. Kammenos, The Greek chief general staff along with The Land and Naval generals paid another visit to the annexed islands of Eşek and Bulamaç in 6 march 2015.

Weeks ago The mayor of Aydın, a city in western Türkiye, wanted to pay a visit to one of those islands which is under responsibility of Aydın. However, When He got on a coast guard boat, The Lt. of the boat said: He could not go there, Because The island is under invasion of Greece.

The mayor could not go there.
