Indeed he was.

All his family had history of severe Ischemic Heart disease.
It was said at that time that no male member in his family lived beyond 55.
He was the only one to do, but only slightly.

He is known for stories of his upright stance, dignity and self-respect.

1). Once he went to see the then COAS. He was himself a Cor. Com.
He was given the time (say 12:00PM) to meet the COAS.
Asif Nawaz was waiting outside COAS office - who got late.
The Janjua could not take, that he has been made to wait.
He told the officer that my time was 12:00PM and I am now going.
There GHQ was struck with a tremor.
Everybody started running around.
Somebody went in and told the COAS: "Sir! he is leaving".
The COAS came out and "controlled" the situation.

2). A well known incident is with Nawaz Shareef, who made the grave error to send the BMW, as a "gift" at his
residence.
Nawaz was removed from PM office in the near future - albeit! that the Gen. was dead by then.

everyone has to die on one day and all will be laid in same grave with same one white piece of cloth irrespective of rank, power or money. Those who realize this in true sense during their life and do good deeds are lucky people

final resting place of every human. but we have forgotten it
Yes imagine once being the army chief actually the most powerful man of pakistan, with protocol ,body guards and media coverage around.Even he was present inside CIA,white house and pentagon when they talked about their policy in our region.
But now see he is 6 feet beneath ground in a small village in a remote part of jhelum.A isolated burial plot in fields surrounded by wild grass.Barely someone visits his grave these days for pray because the gate is always locked. People do remember him in good words though but few remember him these days.Infact he is not remembered like other past army chiefs which is strange.
In the lust of money, greed and power we all forget unfortunately what's our final destination.

Yup officially Pak army said he had a heart attack but that's very questionable given his past medical record as any army soldier who is always psycially fit and had regularly checked by a doctor. Many people say he was poisoned by either CIA or ISI because he was a very strict officer belonged to a honest dignified zamindaar family he never compromised on any corruption which was prevalent among senior ranks of Pakistan army.
Hashwaani owner of Marriott hotels even said he should have killed zardari and Nawaz at that time because later that would have saved Pakistan from the damage both have caused by their corruption.

"Asif Nawaz died on 8 January 1993, while he was jogging near his home in Rawalpindi. The death was ruled a heart attack, but his family commissioned a private test on hair from his brush, which was conducted in the United States. The test registered high levels of arsenic"
