Brilliant... Criticizing a government for trying to resolve an issue.
NEW DELHI: Indias main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Saturday that Prime Minister Manmohan Singhs government had turned Kashmir into a separate state as well as a separate nation.
The BJP criticised the ruling United Progressive Alliances (UPA) proposals for resolving the Kashmir issue, including the pre-1953 status, demilitarisation, autonomy and self-rule proposals.
If the UPAs policies on Kashmir are accepted, the state will be separated, the BJP said in a political resolution adopted on the second day of its 3-day national executive meeting in Bhopal.
Accusing the government of not having a serious political thought on Kashmir, it expressed concern that while Kashmir continues to bear the brunt of cross-border terrorism, the UPA and its allies have come out with the unacceptable hypothesis that Kashmirs constitutional linkage with the rest of the country must be further weakened.
BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who released the resolution here late on Saturday, said speakers in the national executive meeting held behind closed doors lashed out at the Left for virtually incapacitating the government and ridiculed the government for clinging to office even after getting paralysed. iftikhar gilani
