Govt to support Saarc satellite

Hope India goes ahead even if some countries refuse to join.

India's already on it. SL is already formally backing it up (and have signed so that India can approach ITU formally as a multi-lateral project)....other countries are free to join as well at their earliest convenience. They can even join formally after it has been launched too when they have the infra put into place (in the case of say Afghanistan).

Its Pakistan choice, No one is forcing anyway even if you join the initiative it doesn't mean you cant be part of Chinese camp or other camp.

Hope India goes ahead even if some countries refuse to join.
You are still hoping ? I guess any nation has the right to what ever they want to .They dont need to wait for others .Pak choices are becoming hard and so is for India its not like one fine day we woke up and said hey lets go to chinese .Thing is rational is this .US needs India to cater China .In the process India wants to teach Pak lesson .Pak feels insecured with this goes to China ,China needs Pak to cater India .So its a chess game with both Idiots playing there part

ISRO wont give up any slot. It will be an existing ISRO slot occupied by an ISRO satellite....which will continue or be retired much after SAARC satellite is parked near it as well (at least one beamwidth away) and will remain an ISRO slot.

ISRO has had prior experience with co-location of the INSAT-2 series and others:

Strategy analysis for colocation of INSAT-2 satellites

That sounds good.

This will be really a last case scenario only. I'm pretty sure there will be no issue with the ITU issuing a dedicated slot soon.

No, as I said approvals for orbital slots are hard to come by as a lot of countries put their objections, stating possible collisions with their satellites.

It is done on first come first serve basis....and various criteria are ticked off on a list. There is no issue of paper satellite/over filing in the 74 - 90 E allocation sector (South Asia roughly) as far as I know except maybe the one slot owned by Tongasat...and there are still empty slots between 80.4 and 81.9E and a few others. There is no question of collision really, but rather frequency interference for the more tightly spaced areas....which the ITU is there to provide information and approval for.

Geostationary satellites

Over filing reform is ongoing at the ITU, I believe it will be in place quite soon.

buddy this is an opportunity for Pak to build trust with their neighbors and SAARC countries.BD is inviting everyone to work together. something to build on.we understand you personally may be prejudiced against India/BD , but don't spit on the efforts of other people.

I appreciate your good gensture but the world we live in is not naive .Modi when goes to BD takes credit of breaking Pakistan a part .Indian tried very hard to sabotage SLAF thunder deals .You have to understand clap is done from both hands .I always wished that both India and Pak live together in peace and try to invest money to people .but Alas we both are feeding the monster of humanity inside us .This will continue i dont know for how long.

pakistan is responsible for breaking pakistan. stop blaming others. start owing up your own faults and take responsible for your actions. we all want good relation with everyone. so lets work on that rather than trolling/showing the downside of others all the time.

It's a good initiative by India no doubt but I think the satellite won't serve Bangladesh that much because by the time it will be launched, Bangabandhu satellite will already be in the orbit with a capacity of almost four times of its transponders. May be India should invite Myanmar as well, as they don't have any satellites of their own.
It's not a substitute - it would augment Bangladesh's own capacity in the sector.
We are all running short of transponders for national needs and this can be a shared augmentation for everyone.

Though you are right that we should have involved Myanmar as well. Unfortunately they are not in SAARC, else it would have involved them from the beginning.

We prefer chinese camp too much de trust. OK i will not try to be negative it is a good intiative but honestly India Pak they will never have peace world is becoming Bi polar once again .India US Japan Aust siding together where as CHina Pak ,Russia are at one side .It seems smaller nations will run for camps but chances for big players is zero to nun
So you divide world powers in 2 camps and pitch india against russia.
You know its very funny, right. India vs russia. :laughcry:

You guys these are proud members of US ,with threatning China and siding up with arch rivals of Russia ,think of it before posting .This is not a marriage life Geo political phenomena changes with time and need .Pak was darling of US in 60s 70s 80s but they need you more than Pak so yes India will be in coming years left with few choices
