Govt to invite Amazon, eBay, PayPal to start operations in Pakistan

You would think Amazon, EBay, and PayPal would have entered the Pakistan market long ago, so why haven't they?

Because there wasn't a democratic system and these companies don't invest in political messy countries like Pakistan was. But this all is changing, PayPal has some regulations to work through, they are ready to go. Ebay has been putting together a proposal for Pakisan and Amazon is working on a feasibility study in terms of their market penetration strategy.

Some fools here would give you the impression that these guys were READY to come to Pakistan and somehow current government effed it up (like they say with everything). Ignore the blame drama by IK and continue watching what people are delivering for Pakistan.

Volvo, GM, VolsWagon, Renault are ALSO entering Pakistan but Audi will beat them all, as they are READY to go and are working on details on establishing a manufacturing plant in Pakistan. Haier is moving their home appliance manufacturing to Pakistan, Huwaei has already started a Desktop and Tablet building plant in Pakistan with two more on the way for Cell phones and TV's!!

Anusha Rehman, Minister of State for IT and Telecom's Promise of Paypal, Amazon & Ebay in Pakistan Still A Distant Dream

Read up. If you don't know the REAL status on things, you MAY want to ask someone instead of posting negative propaganda crap!!

Remeber, I am not the only one from the US reading this. Many investment companies do analysis on "Sentiment" in Pakistan about American products and services. They come across stuff like your post / article and leave with a VERY negative taste in their mouth.

You don't have to bring out your home's internal political laundry on here to air. Try to maintain a positive, mature and presentable outlook for Pakistan so that others get a warm and nice feeling when they come to this forum. IK's favorites have turned this into a bit*chy contest where readers just think Pakistan is the worst place to look for stability and IK obviously doesn't care about Pakistan!!

A Wretched Bureaucracy That Deserves To Be Hanged In Public
It's not bureaucracy it's risk. Imagine PayPal linked to terrorist financing by Pakistani users. Pakistan is a high risk country for websites offering payment services. Despite talking measures to curb it, You have people who still harbor sympathy to AQ,Taliban,Hammas,Hezbullah and Daesh.

That will be great for me. I'll just send gifts via Amazon and eBay to my friends and family in Pakistan and avoid carrying heavy bags from the other side of the globe and..... then the scary part; the hassle, haggle and struggle with the porters. I welcome this development on a personal level :)

It's not gonnai happen anytime soon

We need proper infrastructure for PayPal, eBay and Amazon to operate in Pakistan. Starting from Banking sector to Pakistan Post, the government will need to negotiate terms and offer such a package where Bank's are able to offer debit and credit cards to all individuals and process smaller transactions of 50 rupees to 100 rupees and post office is competent enough to offer cheap service for only 5-20 rupees depending on the product.

Imagine you sell a cable on eBay.pk for 100 rupees, eBay takes away 8-20 rupees and PayPal another 10 rupees and then you have postage cost, cost of product and your profit in leftover 70 rupees. It's very difficult for Pakistan to offer such service, no idea how many posts will end up getting lost in the first place

Let the online business thrive in Pakistan first which is doing good when they are usually offering goods valued over 1000 rupees.
