I will still wait that IK has not taken it home at 50%.
If he has, his statue of Mr. Clean will break in innumerable pieces.
Even if he has taken anything home but in accordance with the law of the land properly following the
"Government of Pakistan procedure for acceptance and disposal of gifts received by Government/Public functionaries", there is nothing wrong or 'unclean' about it.
The procedure involves:
Reporting receipt of the gift(s) and depositing it immediately in
Toshakhana of the Cabinet Division. Cabinet Division then gets value of the gifts assessed from Government Sector experts in FBR as well as private sector approved appraisers. The recipient is then allowed to get back the gift from Toshakhana on payment of 50% of the value. The list of gifts that are not retained by the recipient are then circulated to all Federal Government officers and officers of the Armed Forces. The articles not purchased in two consecutive auctions by the Government servants are then disposed of to the public through sealed bids.
Antiques, gifts of intrinsic historical value and vehicles are not allowed to be retained by the recipient, nor are they to be sold / auctioned.
The procedure applies to the President/Head of 'the Government and their family members, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Governors of the Provinces, Members of the Federal Cabinet, Attorney General for Pakistan, Ministers of State, Deputy Chairman Senate, Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Dignitaries holding ministerial status, Members of Provincial Cabinets, Judges of Supreme Court, Chief Justice/Judges of the High Courts, Parliamentarians and other elected representatives, all Government servants (Civil and Military) as well as employees of the Government controlled corporations, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies and their spouse/dependents, members of the Provincial Governments, other members of public visiting abroad as members of official delegation.
Now, if IK is guilty of breaking any of the above rules, legal action should be taken against him. But if he is not, then he is clean and the criticism against him can be ignored and rejected as unfounded.
