What good have ever come out of Pakistan administrative service aka dc's? Besides playing a role of a broker between the public and some control freaks sitting in the provincial capitals, bullying every state department and ridiculing our elected representatives - - - - - - - -.

I say let's ban hiring officers for the PAS and PSP groups altogether. either hire a technocrat on contract base for a secretary post or promote the staff from the same department who actually have experience of getting things done efficiently - - - - - -.

If I ever have to work under a DC / secretary just coz he happens to carry a colonial legacy of ruling and screwing everyother department and who don't know shit about my field I'd rather flip him a bird and go my way .

Good steps. Please also ban all currency notes and replace it with new notes, This is inevitable to root out corruption and ban 5000 Rs currency note forever. No need of it. I will support if even they ban 1000 Rs note . Maximum currency should be 500 Rs or 1000Rs if inevitable.

Replacing notes with new should start from the 10K notes and then 5k notes and then 1k notes. 10K and 5K notes can only be exchanged for new if deposited in a bank account.

Then phase out 10K notes.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's new government has banned the discretionary use of state funds and first-class air travel by officials and leaders, including the president and the prime minister, as part of its austerity drive.

The decisions were made at a Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday, according to Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry.

"It has been decided that all the top government officials, including the president, prime minister, chief justice, senate chairman, speaker national assembly and the chief ministers will travel in club/business," he told media.


To a question, Chaudhry said that the Army chief was not allowed first class travel and always used business class.

He said that the discretionary allocation of funds by the prime minister and the president and other officials was also stopped by the Cabinet.


Chaudhry claimed that former prime minister

Nawaz Sharif used Rs 51 billion discretionary funds in a year.


The prime minister also decided to stop using special plane for foreign visits or domestic travelling and use business class.


After his victory in the July 25 general election, Khan decided not to use palatial Prime Minister House and instead live in a small portion of it that was previously used as the residence by the military secretary to the prime minister.


Khan also decided to use only two vehicles and keep two servants. He refused to use elaborate official protocol.


The Cabinet took up a host of issues, including reverting to six-day working week, but decided to continue five-day working after some ministers opposed the idea because it may alienate government servants.


The five-day working was instituted in 2011 due to power shortages and save fuels. The Cabinet was briefed that five-day working had not affected the performance or output by the civil servants.


While retaining two weekly off-days, the Cabinet changed the official office timings from 8-4 pm to 9-5 pm.


The meeting also decided to conduct audit of all the mega transport projects carried out in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the previous governments.

Nawaz Sharif used Rs 51 billion discretionary funds in a year.

Rs 51 Billion is roughly US$400 million. In other words, this low life thug called Nawaz, could do ANYTHING with this $400 million. He could even send it to his personal bank account. Just imagine what other government funds he had "discretion" to. And hence the billions of dollars he and his kids looted from this country for years. This Fu*ker and his kids should be hanged for being the worst traitors ever, and stealing from Poors of this country. And something needs to be done about Zardari - the corruption mafia boss.
