Blasphemy laws should be scrapped, the religion itself is so great that you do not need any one to protect it. It will grow on its own merit and not by coercion or reign of terror. These laws are just a manifestation of insecurities of a few followers.

It is an act of extremist terror where an indoctrinated murderer planned the act and used the first opportunity available to kill a political leader. In Pakistan, acts of this nature are tried under the Anti-Terrorism laws.
