Bengaluru, Mar 24 (PTI): The central government has decided to solve the water problems in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan by utilising water from rivers flowing into Pakistan, Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari said here today. He said the government has also introduced a new scheme where water will reach farmers through innovative technology using pipe system rather than canals, avoiding land acquisition costs to the tune of Rs 6,000 crore.

Gadkari made these remarks in his inaugural address at an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry here, according to a release issued by the organisers.
Citing the case of the Godavari, where 3000 tmc of water is flowing to the sea, Gadkari said government is constructing a dam at Polavaram in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore to check Indravati river flow, which is a tributary of Godavari and flows in full spate through a thick forest.

“This water can then be carried till the tail end of Tamil Nadu, almost 1,300 km by pipeline. Once this project is completed, Tamil Nadu will get almost 450 TMC of water,” he said.
Gadkari, who also holds the portfolios of road, transport and highways and shipping, said the government is very keen on developing Karwar port in Karnataka and is willing to spend Rs 3,000 crore for the projects if the state government is in agreement.
Touching upon waterways as a cheaper logistical option,he said government is encouraging seaplanes and called on HAL to form a Joint Venture with the government to manufacture them.

According to him, around 10,000 seaplanes would be required in the next two years.
Gadkari also emphasised the urgent need to reduce pollution and urged the automobile industry to produce vehicles that would run on electricity and alternate fuels like ethanol and methanol, which could be produced from agricultural waste.
“Conversion of waste into wealth is the future,” he said.

Gadkari also said the current road construction is at 28 kms a day and the target for next year is 40 kms per day.

He stated that the government has already signed work contracts for projects worth Rs 8,50,000 crore for roads, ports, shipping and water resources.
Stating that the government’s plan was to develop two lakh kilometers of highways, with 12 express highways, he said work on a new highway between Bengaluru and Mysuru at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore, will commence from today.

He also said that government would start work on a ring-road for Bengaluru, which will cost around Rs 10,000 crore. Gadkari said work on the Rs 16,000 crore express highway project between Bengaluru and Chennai is expected to start by end March or beginning of April this year.

Election lies!

Last year Modi was going to stop water supply to Pakistan.

Walk the Talk!

Our gujarati superman was going to defeat Pakistan and China in a war. I am still waiting for that.

In bid to expedite water war, India has completely blocked flows of water from river Sutlej, Beas and Ravi into Pakistan while another 50000 cusec water of river Chenab has been cut short, reported Roznama Dunya on Monday.

As result of blockage, zero water discharge has been reported in all 90 canals erupting from the aforementioned rivers. At times when Pakistan’s political elite is busy in annihilating rivals, India is inaudibly violating 1960 Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).

You must be pretty silly to think a bank can enforce a treaty when a Nuclear bomb can't.

IWT exist on the good will of India.

This 1,856 megawatt dam has received clearance from the Indian environment ministry’s ‘Expert Appraisal Committee for River Valley and Hydroelectric Projects’. Exercising its right under the IWT to the maximum and with the objective of eliminating the power-deficient status of Jammu, the Indian government has announced the need to expedite the project.

The Sawalkot project was approved at a meeting held on February 20, 2017. Numerous other hydroelectric projects in Jammu and Kashmir have been proposed by India, all of which faced objection from Pakistan due to the adverse impact it might have on that country.

The Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEFF) has given a green signal to the 800 MW Bursar Hydroelectric Project in the Himalayan state of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) “without fulfilling some basic environmental norms” which were highlighted by its own expert committee in recent weeks.

The proposed Bursar Hydroelectric Project will be located near the Pakal village on the Marusudar, one of the major tributaries of Chenab river.

According to the project executing agency, the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), the Bursar HEP is a storage project in which the flow of water can be regulated not only to the benefit of this project, but all downstream projects. These include Pakal Dul, Dul Hasti, Rattle, Baglihar, Sawalkot, and Salal hydroelectric projects. This will enhance the power generation potential of all these downstream projects during the lean flow months.

A bank is more powerful than nuclear weapons currently.
And nuclear weapons will enforce treaty when you cross the red line.
IWT dont have any goodwill clause.
1) We can first go to warand even with medium range artillary target these dams irrespective of consequences.
2)World bank can do the job as a guarantor by asking the member countries to stop any kind of deal with you.
3) Do similar thing with you inside China. change the path of the water you are desperate to stop.
