Google's new update will let you search offline

Google’s app has just changed the way people use its search engine. The search engine giant’s latest update for Android allows users to run a quick search even without access to the internet.

The latest update will save any offline searches made by users and automatically run them when the device gains access to an internet connection. Using Google’s streamlined search results, the feature will not use extra data or drain your battery.

“Even if your search fails, Google will now deliver your results as soon as a connection is available—so you can keep searching with a single tap,” reads a statement on Google’s blog.

The offline feature would be especially useful for Pakistani users who often have to deal with slow, unreliable data connections. “So the next time you lose service, feel free to queue up your searches, put your phone away and carry on with your day. The Google app will work behind-the-scenes to detect when a connection is available again and deliver your search results once completed,” the statement added.

This means that users don’t have to worry about constantly checking their phones for a stable connection to run the search again. The app will pick up data signals automatically and provide results as soon as a connection is available.

Google Enables Users to Search While Being Offline

Google is improving on ways to deliver your searches for you through the updated Google Search app. This is especially for people with a bad internet connection and those that have unreliable mobile data connections.



Search queries can now be saved offline, in case of no internet connection, and will be searched for in the background. The user will be notified about them once the connection is restored.

How It Works
When you are searching for something and the connection fails or there isn’t one in the first place, the app will now save the query for later, waiting for you to get an internet connection. As soon as it gets connected again, the app will simply search the query you previously entered, all by itself. It will then let you now via a notification that the search result is ready.

You can also stack up multiple search queries and the app will store all of them. It will then search all of them when provided with an internet connection and you can view them one by one.







All of this happens in the background and Google says that it does not impact the battery life and that the offline search will pull “streamlined search results pages” which will have minimum impact on the data usage too.

One thing you have to remember is that the Google search should originate from the Google Search app and not from any other browser, not even Chrome. This could be annoying especially if you are not used to using the search app for dedicated searches.

How to Use It
If you’d like to turn the new offline search off, there’s a new “Always Retry Searches” options in the settings that you can either turn off or on. Here you can also delete any kind of pending queries that you have might using the “Manage Searches” options in the sidebar.

You also have an option to not receive a notification every time a search gets completed and you can either turn that off or on too.
