Give India-Pakistan peace a chance: Mani Shankar Aiyar

First of all , keep in mind that you aren't doing anyone a favor by talking with Pakistan ... It is the need for both countries even if you dont want to believe it ... I will be very happy if our respective countries establish a DMZ just like N and S Korea and be happy with it ... What child are you talking about ? The same one which has been a pain in your *** for 60 years and to which you are psychologically obsessed with to such extent that your country doesn't even make a military purchase / foreign policy which is not Pakistan centric ... Do not come to the dialogue table for some time and you will soon see the results ...

Our military priorities shifted long ago..now you can claim that Indian tanks and armour are placed at Pakistan border, but lets face it Chinese won't come on top of their tanks.

.
The only way forward for both countries is to stop screwing around each other. In other words, Pakistan should stop state sponsored terror against India, especially Kashmir, and India should stop its cloak-and-dagger tactics against Pakistan.

But the moot point is will this ever come about? Nope, because of very powerful vested interests in both countries. A paradigm shift would be required which can only be brought about by astute statesmanship on both sides, which unfortunately doesn't exist today.

I don't share your views.

If France and Britain can be friends today after centuries of warring, India-Pakistan enmity pales in comparison.

Although, I have my own way of thinking about how to bring that eventual result into being.

its sad that even after getting back-stabbed so many times..our pathetic moron leaders talk abt peace:hitwall:

There are two types of peace.

1. Peace as in, friendly peace, the kind of peace that exists between US and Canada.

2. Peace, as in, uneasy peace, the kind of peace that I'm talking about.

In the long term, I would like option 1. In the short term, it will be option 2.

.
The ball is in Pakistan's court.

We are doing Pakistan a favor by even talking to them.

I'm not saying we should attack Pakistan or anything. Their nukes are a pretty good deterrent, just to give credit where it's due.

But if it were for me, India would not hold any talks with Pakistan.

Not for 5, 10, 20 years.

No talks.

No trade.

No cricket.

No diplomacy.

Nothing. As if they don't even exist.

War and peace are not the only options.

The option of not coming to the dialogue table and not going to war at the same time, is the best to deal with states like Pakistan.

The more attention you give to a kid, the more stubborn he becomes.

Leave the kid alone, let him cry to his heart's content, and after sometime, he will come back to you wagging his tail, so to speak.

The Pakistanis know that no matter howsoever much they send people like Kasab to India and butcher our people, we will ultimately come back to the dialogue table after some rona dhona.

That's where we make the mistake.

I say quit the dialogue process for years or decades if required and then see how this recalcitrant kid of a country mends its ways.

It's not like we have anything substantial to gain from Pakistan anyways. Good Indo-Pak relations will mostly benefit Pakistan alone. The status quo favours us.

Then what the **** are u doing here, go and catch some fish Captain or hunt for treasure

There is another type of peace..'Peace through strength'. Make yourself strong that others will think more than twice before messing with you.

All of what you're advocating has been done for years by our politicians and diplomats alike, yet it has gotten us zilch.

It's now time to try a different approach.

In a nutshell, it's time to tell the kid, "No matter how much you cry or shout or throw your arms around or jump around....you ARE NOT GOING TO GET THAT TOY. PERIOD.".
I say ignore pakistan and develop economy build infra in here and increase you weight in world politics..you will soon see the tail between the legs and dialogue table prepared in advance with a Indian solution signed by Pakistani premiere.
So to answer and solve all the issue ...the only way is development of India and that too on a large scale, no war can solve it..only will create few more issues..

Religion is the strongest dividing force ever invented by man.

You have played all your cards, mate.
You've done all you could.
You've tried four wars. Didn't work.
You've tried supporting Punjab insurgency. Didn't work.
You've tried supporting Kashmir insurgency. Didn't work.
You've tried prepaid-killers like Kasab. Didn't work.
You've tried sheltering most wanted Indian criminals like Dawood Ibrahim. Didn't work.
You've tried the UN route. Didn't work.
You've tried global diplomacy. Didn't work.
Seriously, what can you do now which we haven't seen earlier. What new trick you have left up your sleeve?
Take it for what it is worth, you can't do anything more than what you've already done.
That's why I said in my first post, that you are a nuisance with a limited nuisance value and that's where your leverage ends. You can trouble us a bit but cannot cause any serious damage.
We already have all that we want.
We have control over Kashmir's rivers. We have more than half the land too.

Kashmiri struggle for freedom is still going well ... Does a day passes in valley without protests and demonstrations against Indian rule ? Somehow they dont approve of your control of Kashmir ... right ?
To tell the truth , if we ever had tried to properly support the Khalistan insurgency , you wouldn't even had Amritsar in India ... say thanks to Benazir for she handed the names of the leaders to your RAW
Four wars ? lol For instance ?

If we dont have anything up our sleeve , then recall your diplomatic mission from Islamabad and just declare a DMZ between both countries ... I will be very happy to meet Indians once a year at 18th parallel ... Who blinked and withdrew troops in 2002 despite the massive propaganda and blowing hot air ? Nuisance value ? Really ? Are you telling me that your intelligence services dont engage in anti Pakistan warfare ? :azn:

Half of which land though ? The shitty thing is we will not hesitate to go nuclear if we sense a Water warfare already killing us ... Build some more dams ! PLZ !

Ever happened ? You do remind me of some Indian leaders who thought Pakistan will accede to India a few years after its independence ! :azn:

Then why are Turkey and Israel friends? or let's say close to friends. Whatever, they are not enemies in any sense of the word.

Turkey and Israel does not carry historical baggage like Israel and her neighbours.

I wish Jinnah had lived at least 15 years more after Independence that could have changed a lot of things. With all his issues, I still do not think he hated the land of his birth and where his daughter decided to settle down. With all his differences, he had good relations with lots of Congress leaders of that time. Given his relationship, if he had time of his side, I am sure the relations between the two countries would have been a lot different than what we are seeing today.

Anyways- That's past.

Seriously, The time is running out for Pakistan.

The next PM of India will be either Rahul Gandhi or Narendra Modi.

...and trust me when I say, neither give two hoots about Pakistan or its tantrums.
