Germany, Japan fume at Obama's UN nod

Uncle SAM supporting India to get a permanent U.N. membership is like handing over a rope to India to hang USA. USA support a unipolar world while India suggests a multipolar world. So USA and India are on the opposite ends. Then why would USA support India for U.N. seat ???

Already Russia and china( US competitors) are there in UNSC.. what difference does it make if India is also included? :smokin:

Maybe you should ask B.H.Obama :what:

Already Russia and china( US competitors) are there in UNSC.. what difference does it make if India is also included? :smokin:

The difference is that there will be an extra member opposing US foreign
policy around the world. So it will be 3 against 1 (China, Russia and India against USA).

So is nt it nice that there is one more member to oppose the bad ideas of US along with Russia and China ;)

When will you people understand that we are not anti-'anyone'.

We are only pro-India and will do whatever to takes to protect our interests.

World is anot always black and white to India...there are many shades of Grey in between.

well I would rather say....Abolish permanent seats in the United Nations

Give equal opportunities to everybody.....decide all matters on the basis of votes....one for each nation

Veto-power imbalances the power in the region and is a useful tool for powerful countries to oppress the less powerful nations

The problem is that the great P5,who have got the taste of these powers, will never release them.

If the recent vote count in the just finished UN elections are any indicators to go by, then I think there is no problem ahead for India joining the security council soon.

The Problem is the remaining of the G-3 whose candidature is opposed by many countries.

it remains to be seen what diplomatic manoeuvres will be undertaken by the GoI to iron out these issues.

The problem with reform of the UN is that it has to come through consensus, and we know that is a bloody pipe dream, so there is no chance of india or any other country becoming a permanent member for the foreseeable future.

^^ And one fine day you open your eyes only to find that India has become the permanent member of UNSC.

makes sense.

makes sense.

Rubbish! Utter rubbish! There is no equality among nations of the world and neither can there ever be. You cannot possibly think of giving same weight to Uganda and Zimbabwe as to US and China.

If nations like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka want to be treated equally, they will have to actively work to make sure that they are in the same league of nations as UK, US, China etc.

It's like asking to give A grade to every student just because he/she is human and all humans are equal.

Equality doesn't come by moral BS, equality comes by being strong. Respect is commanded, not begged!

The difference is that there will be an extra member opposing US foreign policy around the world. So it will be 3 against 1 (China, Russia and India against USA).

Ummmm, India opposing the US? I thought someone from your country just called India an American pet dog!!! Or was that just for the heck of it? You know that statistically you are right, on more than 90% ocassions, India has opposed the American stand at the UN.

Come on.. dont reverse the direction..

I have transformed the opinion from the pet status to opposing one..

See its very easy to manipulate opinions....dont play the spoilsport. :D
