Hi,

Today is the day that germany paid of the last installment of $94 million dollars debt for starting world war 1----the punishment was imposed upon germany---by britain---france and USA---an amount of 35 billion dollars @ Versailles.

.
Seriously? It took them a century? Damn, that's a bit harsh considering that Germany wasn't even all that guilty for the first world war.

BTW, debts for WWII were canceled in the 1950's. (I think.)

This debt included the coal reserves in Germany [looting of Germany's resources]

This post only concerns the sufferings of Germany, not other countries.

Germany loosing Alsace, and other regions, and then loosing the lands to the soviet, and then being incinerated in World War 2.

All Germans, millions being expelled, killed, raped, and mutilated all over eastern europe from Volga to Danube.

And then the divide into west and east and destruction of German identity, religion, and culture under communism and atheism.

No one can imagine what this nation has gone through. And if you meet Germans, they are great talented, strong, confident people.

It is one of the greatest injustices in my opinion. These wars were clearly bankers wars.

These were indeed the bankers war.

But WWII isn't as easy to claim Germany as a victim. Remember, Hitler killed 13+ million people, many who even had German citizenship.

OK germans were no angels nor the japanese but this speaks of intrest based banking which can make loans drag for centuries!

Talk about debt, let me bring-in Gawadar the only Resource that at its full potential can pay off Pakistan's debt in a decade. (even less)

Sadly had it been developed in 80's today Pakistan wouldn't be begging anyone.
Just as South Korea took our economic model in 60's we should take their Porting/shipping model and implement it with sincerity.

honestly think what we South Asians lack that Europeans and Americans have is a "reality check."

Tell a bunch of Western Europeans about something wrong with their country and the first thing they will do is accept it. Then they will discuss how to fix it, and fix it in an efficient way, so that you can never complain again.

I the same scenario, a bunch of south Asians will abuse the one pointing out the fault and talk about how nothing is wrong. later, they ill secretly accept that something is wrong, but will not try to fix it until there is no choice left. and even while fixing it, they cant agree with each other and cant put aside differences for a goal that will benefit all.

Its time we wake up and realise what is good for us. A fault is a fault, and we should stop defending it. Rather, admit it. And that itself will take us half way to solving our troubles. The other half involves thinking of greater good, and not just about ourselves.

Well respect to Germany, it is common knowledege amongst historians now that all the major powers are to blame for WW1 to a certain extent, not only Germany.

.
I have alot of respect for German resolve to handle adversity ... they lost everything in WW1 and then within quarter of a century they took on the might of the whole world (almost) and lost again (though after a long and brave fight) and then they rose up again from the ashes to become the Economic giant they are now ... I think German ability to face adversity should be a role model for any country.
