‘Geographic position makes Bangladesh an ideal place to link East with West’

.
Look at the terrain map genius!
Maybe you feel a bit left out in this affair but, making ultra claims like this is strange.

It is cheaper to ship through international shipping lines, which does not pass through the bay of Bangal. India has no point in connecting to China throuh Tibet, it's sparsely populated for at least a 1000 Km.

It's better if you look at the map and tell us how Bangladesh is any relevant in our connection to China or ASEAN, neither of which is anywhere close to BD, and the only region that has any connection is Myanmar which we already share a border with.

Your government knows better than you, that's why they're pushing for more connectivity via Bangladesh, be it rail, road or waterways.

Now, If you in your boundless wisdom know a better route, be sure to let your government know.

Obviously, why should we alienate you? More connectivity between India and Bangladesh is always good. It'll be easier for us to connect to the North-Eastern regions, easier trade and exchange of people.

But this is like Myanmar bragging about India calling Myanmar the pivot to act east policy, all these are policies, neighborhood first policy, act east policy. But bragging as if it's an indispensable part is childish. You are not at the door of El Dorado.

Whose bragging ? It was a simple notion floated by our government, neither India or Pakistan was mentioned, what's childish is you lot repeatedly derailing this thread.

We get it that Pakistanis and Indians like to mock Bangladesh just for the fun of it but don't do it here and then accuse us of being childish, when all were doing is trying to put the facts into perspective.

Tell me, why are all your panties caught in a twist, both Pakistani Trolls on here and the usual suspect Indians... Why does our governments line have to do with any of you ?

Why come here and mock it ? For some childish laughs and gags ?

Don't answer, I already know why.

You don't see us posting ridiculous garbage in your threads, now do you ?

I don't know where Pakistan comes in all this, throwing random words like Pakistan wouldn't make any difference to the original point.

And we are asking a simple question, how is Bangladesh an indispensable part of our connection to China or ASEAN? That's the point of this thread, Geographic position makes BD an ideal place to link east and west. Does it really?

And I gave an opinion, that BD is not indispensable but an added advantage when it comes to tourism and trade to North East India or Myanmar.
As for the laughs, who makes claims like without BD how we are gonna connect to China and ASEAN? Really?

Throwing random words ? Atleast read the whole thread and all the responses, you'll see why Pakistan was mentioned.

Did I say Bangladesh is indispensable for India in relation to increasing connectivity between the mainland and NE, I didn't.

My question is, why are you lot so pent up and frustrated over Hasina's comment regarding this subject, are you in ASEAN ?

Arguing just for the sake of it is childish and a poor use of your time.

What about sea routes?? If we want to reach China or ASEAN say Vietnam or Cambodia or China from vishakhapatanam, kolkata ,Chennai or andaman nicobar islands what magical route BD offers us??? I'm sure it's not padma river.... please enlighten us all our geography GURUDEV.....

No sir please don't misunderstand.... I'm here to learn..... please show us the terrain map that makes India beg BD to connect China and ASEAN.....other members too will learn something new...

.
By plane. :sarcastic:

On a serious note, trade with China and ASEAN is cheaper through waterways. After a certain distance trade through roads is expensive, it requires rail connectivity. Something which is coming up in Nepal, I hear.
Sea routes are God gifted and are cheaper. Countries have to build infrastructures like Sea Ports and ships to make the system functional. But, these things will become limited in the future to cross Atlantic or Pacific.

Now, soon it will be Asian era of development and so, nearby countries are building new infrastructures like highways and rail roads. Why? Because it is cheaper to transport goods on the land between nearby countries.

However, Sea routes will not close down. They will be operative. But, the land transport is cheaper in most cases because goods are not all produced near the Ports like Bombay. Sea route is 100% efficient in island countries like Japan. Even then it has built almost a million kms of highways and rail roads for internal transport.

India regularly begs BD to give connections for its transport to the NE. BD has already given a few. The Asian Highway route also goes from Kolkata to NE via BD. So, what is your point of argument?

Its still not called BEGGING.... we pay you if you are not interested you can tell us NO.... imagine if BD and India were total enemies like India Pak or India China.....we would have taken the pinch and stayed connected to NE through siliguri....

BTW you are still unable to explain why India needs to BEG to BD to connect to China and ASEAN.....

Begging or what, the benevolent govt of Bangladesh has successfully hooked India into its ploy of depending upon us whether it is to connect with the NE or with ASEAN and China.

Land and rail roads are the major options for connectivity among nations in this region for the respective country's further development. India has rejected the Chinese OBOR but it will have to accept the Asian Highway concept that goes through Bangladesh. An example of India depending upon our country.

Anyway, this is India's fate to keep on asking BD for connectivity. Chinese goods produced in Kunming area is far away from Shanghai Port. The better option is to export on land.

Like I said before, waterways for trade and air travel for the long-distance commute is how it is going to be for a very long time. Not many people from India are going to travel through BD or North East to reach Thailand or China. It's pointless and hectic unless you are some budget traveler who loves to do it. Then there is the bullet train option, who knows, I can't speculate on that, as of now it seems not so feasible.

As for the Asian century and nearby countries, we have Bangladesh, Myanmar Nepal, Pakistan, with only Bangladesh and Sri Lanka showing any momentum for growth. I do see Bangladesh getting better off hopefully more infra and less congested roads. Which is if everything goes well for the next 10-20 years.
