This is my humble opinion.

First of all this qawali should be banned.

Secondly, the uproar is NOT about the qawali, but about the fact that shoes were paraded when it was being sung. The shoes were paraded for a rasam (ritual) called "jota choopai" / (hiding shoe) . To those who don't know about this silly ritual ; it's basically when the bride's side, hides the grooms shoes, and then extorts money in return. It can be quite a stupid experience for the groom.

Please remember that you can't ban a channel just because they Aired something you don't like.

If you believe that Allah is almighty and that prophet muhammad (pbuh) was his final messenger you have nothing to worry about...Allah or the prophets feelings weren't hurt and they are stronger than that. Whatever punishments they (the news casters) deserve will happen in the afterlife. When people used to throw stones on the prophet did he try to ban them? No! He showed them tolerance.

Stop behaving like a medieval pitchfork civilization and move into the 21st century. If something bothers you don't listen.

We should only do boycotts and demand banning of channels when they actually threaten to kill people or are racist etc.

On the other hand, Govt is trying to create hurdles to postpone a crucial PEMRA meeting on Geo's issue. Notable thing here is, PEMRA is an autonomous body, when people asked why Govt didn't push PEMRA to take actions against Geo, Govt said they cannot do anything as PEMRA is autonomous. But now when PEMRA took actions against Geo on public pressure, govt is creating hurdles. Only SC can cancel PEMRA meetings, Govt has no power of doing so.

It's one thing Geo aired such manhoos content and Shaista hosted it, but if you look deeper there is another problem.

That is the qawwali in question itself. Look at those lyrics, I mean. Those are messed up, insulting words. These qawals sang it on live tv and got caught but how many other private parties they must have sang this qawwali or even worse and continue to do it? That's the real problem.

How come no one is talking about graving these guys, qawals, and making a correction, punishing or fining them? I'm all for strict punishment on Geo and the programme host but let's find these guys, too.
