General Raheel Sharif in Washington: Déjà Vu all over again

Let me put it to you in straight blunt terms, and I speak as a friend of Pakistan the state, not of the deep state, and as a friend of Pakistanis.

You have to sort out your confusion about who is a terrorist and who is a freedom fightier.

From the word 'go', it has been the assumption that we have in south Asia a ruling class, or segment, and a ruled class or segment. It was the assumption that the rulers for a thousand years had a prescriptive right to rule, or at least not be ruled, and democracy and the power of the majority to decide broad issues be hanged. That was the origin of the Muslim version of the Two Nation Theory, without taking anything away from the fact that a Hindu/atheist bigot articulated it on the model of European racism of the worst kind of the time.

From that time onwards, the history of modern south Asia has been an unceasing attempt by the Muslim community to prove that they are at least the equals of another community several times larger, and an attempt by the leading elements of the Hindu community to restore an idyllic and never-existent where they ruled supreme. We can go into a lot of detail on that, but what matters here is the impact that these two attitudes had on war and peace.

The Muslims crystallised their quest for untrammeled existence into a quasi-nation state, a nation state that existed on the basis of a single community, whatever genuflections were made by their enlightened leadership to multilateral co-existence within one state. To their great good fortune, the contradiction between ethnicities within their state was resolved, largely involuntarily, but inevitably, by rebellion; what remains is a much healthier pair of Muslim nations with internally compatible ethnicity. The trouble is that in spite of this outcome, we still see that there is existential confusion between the state and the community.

Not that the Hindus did much better building a progressive, modern, secular nation state on the western model, the only progressive democratic model available for comparison or emulation. Nevertheless, they were initially better off, and will finally, it is to be hoped, continue better off, due to the correcting influence of its minorities, which prevent its majority and the leading elements within that from making complete horses' arses of themselves.

This is the root of the problem: Muslim intransigence and confusion about where the state ends and the community begins. One root; the other warrants a separate discussion.

If only it was that simple.

It is the politicians who will salvage you, and nobody else.

Hey, hey, Dubai does it.

What journalist? This is what Sartaj Aziz said!

Thats a surprise. .One out of 58 isn't a bad thing. But the issue is we do not see emiratis talking about beef in India..its the Pakistanis. .

I accept most of what you have written, and before I ask you this I accept that what I am asking you is mainly our own fault cannot blame someone else for it, but I would like an analysis on this. Sir how confident you are of your countrymen if they were interfered with their religion, policies, their leaders being fed dollars, just to make them realise that they are the holly warriors? Do you think they have enough potential like we have in this field? I mean who can resist the "The Rambo" movie you know, I believe there was time when most youth wanted to like "Ram Janay".

If General Sharif would not have gone to US and given some Deep Freezing to meeting and relations...

Then Yanks would have Panicked and offered you Sweets.

In Game of Russian Roulette the Party which Freaks First ---- Looses the Game.

My DEAR Sir,

That was ONE HALF of the picture. If I were to put down my views on our own condition, there are those who would hunt me down and kill me (my identity, real name and occupation, and address are all known).

As far as your points are concerned, I believe basically decent people have been given a very hard time by indecisive and unsure leadership, and also a fundamental confusion which even the towering intellect who led Pakistan to its birth was unable to resolve.

I would like to answer you in detail. Please bear with me for twenty minutes.

Hi,

The problem is that pakistan does not know how to play the U S---. RAW dare not enter the arena in afghanistan if pak plays its cards right---.

the U S and the american public does not want any more casualties inthe area. It needs to be settled.
I agree, and any third party for now will really help.. the Afghan intelligence acted as snakes by spilling the story of Mullah Omar's death..which pretty much sabotaged the trilateral meeting between the 3 parties (Pak/ Afghan, Taliban) which had full backing of USA but gave heart attack to Indians

the writer joins the queue of countless and nameless commentators who have been writing AT Pakistan since they discovered Afghanistan about 15 years ago. they come and go but have the common theme of showing us as some master mind bending and controlling monsters which no US administration and its military can understand..

another theme is
the *** and elbow issue these "writers" suffer.

they will put Laskher Tyaba and Afghanistan in the same sentence and to remain relevant they will inject Haqqanis when mentioning India.
writing and thinking on behalf of India is a trend of late and to go with the flow China bad, Pakistan evil and India specific issues being projected as world issues ... is some thing I have seen repeatedly in such writeups.

he might as well have mentioned the illegal Cuban immigrants while discussing Afghanistan and would have gotten some likes from his Texan readers but for now he has felt it sufficient to mention LeT that is Indian specific issue hundreds of miles away from Afghanistan and conveniently omitts the mention of TTP and BLA camps in Kunar and Nooristan.

The journalist who wrote this article was obviously paid sir, why do you not agree with him :(

Dossiers on India have no ‘material evidence’ - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

Clarification relating to a Misleading News Item
(2015-11-20) A section of media, while reporting about the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, yesterday, has given a highly misleading news item that "Dossiers on India have no material evidence." The information is incorrect. As informed by the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, and the Foreign Secretary to the Senate Standing Committee, the Dossiers have been prepared with utmost diligence and care, and are based on hard and irrefutable evidence of RAW's involvement in Pakistan.

Dossiers? Without a single fact, according to the top Pakistani maven himself?

Mass graves? The graves of killed terrorists infiltrated by Pakistan and killed in action, or any other?

Brutal murders by Hindu terrorists? You mean the ones that we have been agitating against for weeks while you have been looking at British journalists to figure out what your stance should be?

When I look at videos of Modi in the UK, hating him as I do, I see 60,000 people in Wembley. When was the last time you saw that?

The Afghan land will become in the next years again very dangerous for Pakistan, it will be a new play ground for ISIS and again Indian RAW will use this groups against Pakistan. We have to prepared for a unstable Afghanistan, it can become the next syria !

yes a brothel of the journal world where a pen is a prostitute for hire. of course with technological advancement a keyboard could be put in there too.

Please don't be so condescending. I am not a great admirer of the media, but they certainly don't deserve these epithets.
