Ahead of the February elections Germany is experiencing a political and economic crisis marked by social fragmentation rising living expenses and economic downturn.
Economic Crisis:
Germany's economy has been contracting from the past two years. The economy ministry projects a GDP growth of just 0.3% in 2025 which is a substantial decline from the 1.1% growth that was previously anticipated. This is caused by a number of factors such as poor investment heavy bureaucracy a lack of trained labor and worldwide crises that affect the export-oriented economy. Energy prices are excessively high and the ailing automobile industry makes matters worse.
Political Instability and Social Polarization:
When the coalition government led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz collapsed there was political instability and a decline in popular confidence in politicians. The majority of Germans think that social polarization will worsen as a result of the ongoing debates about migration and other social concerns. Trade policy are also more ambiguous now that Donald Trump is back in the White House. The country's economic destiny is still up in the air as the election draws near.
