General Ashfaq Kayani Orders Investigation of Footage Showing Execution of Civilians

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has ordered investigation into a video footage which was posted on the internet showing execution of civilians by personnel dressed in Pakistan Army uniforms.

Investigation team will be lead by a two star general to establish the true identity of uniformed personnel and the veracity of the video footage. COAS has said that ’It is not expected of a professional army to engage in excesses against the people whom it is trying to guard against the scourge of terrorism. He has also said that in past militants posed themselves as soldiers to commit the acts of terrorism in the country.

SITE Intelligence Group has reported these videos actually appeared on an extremist site about two weeks ago. Two video clips which were posted over the internet had shown no time stamp and Pakistan army’s investigation team will try to identify the people in the video as well as try to determine whether those shown in uniform were actually soldiers. In the past militants have dressed up as Pakistan Army soldiers to attack Pakistan army’s head quarters.

Nothing different, it's a procedural continuity.
Don't you think that, still the investigation to be needed to dig out the elements behind the scene?
Dear it's obvious, so please be ease.

No I'm perturbed ..if they wanted to investigate, why they denied it at first??!!...Isn't "denial" after an "investigation" a better way of saving face??

Earlier it has been declared / confirmed that, persons shown in video are not related to the Army and the footage is fake, now investigation will trace the accurate identity of uniformed personnel and the veracity of the video footage.

Hope you be now unperturbed, if you were not there :azn:

That is a very credulous theory you came up with :)..However it raises more questions than it answers.

If army is not involved ..why has army ordered the investigation??
army has no authority or experience to conduct investigations ..other than investigating its own ranks.

If army personnel are not involved ..why aren't local law n order agencies leading the investigation??.

Why is two star general overseeing the investigations...if civilians are involved in the crime??

Because the perpentrators are dressed in Pak Army clothings therefore it is a matter of concern the Pak Army.

If your neighbour did something wrong pretending to be you. It is best if you step out and clear the situation personally.

So if they were dressed as Boy scouts ..you would want boy scouts to head the investigation ??

Maybe thats how they run things in your country ??!! but out here in the subcontinent, every force has their own jurisdiction !!..They are expected to toe it !!

Army is heading the investigation ..because army personnel will be under investigation!!..coz army has no jurisdiction over civilian population.

And in order to prove army is or isn't behind the attack they will have to interview the army personnels who happen to be around the area and guess who will be doing that job...yes the army.

Seems like you are already set on your views even before the investigation is complete.

Now you see ...If it was not clear if army was or wasn't involved..then why did ISPR make reflex statement declaring the army wasn't involved..but now they want to conduct an investigation..Why??

Shouldn't investigations precede such statements??

As far as investigations are concerned ..I have my doubt..even if it becomes clear that army men were involved ..would they accept it??...Coz it will be a double embarrassment for them..as it will prove that army was lying the first time around in addition to they are usually involved in extra-judicial killings.

No, if we accept the first assumption that it wasn't army personnel making the video..then we have accept that it was Civilian who made it..but army has no jurisdiction over civilians..it is the responsibility of local law-n-order agencies.

Were the law and order agencies present during that time period ?? Do law and order agencies have the capacity to do such investigation ?? Do the have the resources or intel which the military has ??

If its fake, then it was made by militants, who are not civilians, as they are fighting against the country, and it being related to military, very much makes it the matter of military to handle, as it has the resources, intel and human intel to investigate as to ascertain what the reality is and what not.

But i guess it would be hard for the Indians to understand, as we understand why it is hard for them to understand.

By the way, its old news now, what the fuss all about ?? Why a repost being done of something which has been posted numerous time before ??
