Taliban elected a new leader .I dont think they are going to degrade that easily .
But Afghan civilians will suffer .Taliban will take the revenge on them.

On topic :After those attack Americans publicly claimed that they will do that again .They are a Superpower and their arrogance is that much .So what can Pakistan or leaders to do against them ?
Pak Army still needs US support to counter all these menace.

I am wondering these same mighty US cant do anything against Russia even if that Edward Snowden is in there .
Amriki freakin not care if a taliban leader dies or afghani dies or a dog die, they want to be stay in that land to tackle Russia China Iran and Pakistan moves in any cast, an unstable bloody Afghanistan is their best option.

This is not the first time US has droned Pakistan and this is not the first time they have killed their wanteds on Pakistani soil. I think a critical political response was enough for public consumption rather than the army chief conveying his displeasure to the US envoy in person. It actually undermines his position. However, more important is the position Pakistan has to take on Taliban. US considers them terrorists and Pakistan supports US in fight against terror and at the same time Pakistan considers them their assets. Until this dichotomy prevails she will continue facing situations like this.

Why should the govt appoint a civilian foreign minister when the foreign affairs are handled by the office of chief of army staff?

Very aptly put! This why I believe the army chief of staff has a shelf life of 3 years only. And must not seek any further extentions. Gen. Kiyani did muck up on that, though where he decided to stay Chief for 6 years. Gen. Raheel should take heed and exit out before he becomes a useless mouth piece, too.
The office of Chief of Army staff have handled all of Pakistan's internal/state affairs in the past as well, so going by your logic, why even appoint a Prime Minister to begin with?
Sorry to say but this is an absurd excuse and a failed attempt/argument that people/government use to hide the incompetence. The truth is, the current regime SUCKS when it come to foreign affairs and it was THERE responsibility to figure that out. This is the same old excuse "kay hamin to kisi na 2 saal sa zada kaam krnyy he nai dea" while the truth is that "inhain kisi na 2 saal sa zada kaam DEKHANAY nai dea"
The government should not come forward with such lame excuses and get a grip on the foreign policy.

Mullah mansoor entered Pakistan from Iran with a Valid Iranian and Saudi visa on a fake passport. His faimly is currently staying in iran so i dont so as think it actually proves our point that Taliban leadership is not in Pakistan.

Secondly Afghan Taliban are not our enemies so we are not obliged to kill them and fight wars of west which they are running from themselves.

You basically have three choices.
Ally against the Afghan Taliban.
Stay Neutral
Ally with the Afghan Taliban.

Unless You Ally with the Taliban, you are required by the Geneva Convention to intern
any Afghan Taliban forces present in Pakistan including its commander.

So is Pakistan choosing to Ally with the Afghan Taliban and thus legalize drone attacks within its territories?
If Pakistan does not feel it can control its territories, that aldo legalizes attacks on enemy forces.

.
But that should not make us silent especially in the time of turmoil. The problem with silent majority is that it let's the fanatics take over. None should be afraid of labels. I support PTI but at times I critice it too and I don't hide it because my main objective is to see Pakistan a strong and progressive country. Here even if I say that I need evidence that Afghan Talibans are against Pakistan, people label me taliban supporter while I'm not...I don't support their ideology and their actions but I have been rated negatively for that by some narrow-minded mods and I really don't care anymore.
oo no no i am not silent by any means either!! :)

.
and just how do you imagine those self respecting militaries would have responded ?

I imagine a Russia or China etc would have immediately shot down the drone but not everyone is Russia or China etc

I don't mean to troll, but this seems like an obvious move by the US to reassert itself as the senior and dominant partner in this special and very complicated relationship, they just smashed a major 'bargaining chip' of the Pak military and intel establishment.

A drone would not fly over China and Russia to begin with. Point is red lines need to be drawn. The reason US reasserts itself is because she knows people who matter in Pakistan will remain silent and that is the case. We are not as option less as people like you make it sound. Remember when we closed all NATO supply lines for a year and that resulted in US backing down and apologizing. And no i dont think US will go to war with Pakistan if we shoot their drone down in our territory.

No offense but we are obliged to do squat. Seriously dont you westerners feel a shred of shame when you mention geneva convention. When was the last time EU or UK or US or Russia actualy followed UN convention?
Highlighted part of your comment actually shows you ignorance hence we are obliged to tell u to shove geneva convention where sun doesnt shine.
Please put your own house on order first then come back and give us a lecture on morality.

Well obviously if you are harbouring terrorists, it gives USA no other choice but to drone those terrorists. Not sure what Pakistanis are complaining about. Your sovereignty is not more important than killing terrorists.

Tomorrow Pakistan will fire drone missile into India's territory to kill some alleged terrorist, may be of RSS and those who burnt 68 Pakistanis alive (Samjhota express bombing)..........You'll accept it right? then get ready......Drone is coming right onto your ***.......

If you do trolling, you will get a response.....

. .
Stupids..karry said clearly US informed both sharifs...supa dupa raheel sab playing games as played after OBL raid

. .
Lets do something about it instead of being concerned or voicing protest after deed has been done.

Drone attack on Taliban leadership inside Pakistan sink our stock. We are becoming more and more isolated and our credibility is being further dented.

Public protests after drone strikes mean nothing. If US did tell Pakistan before the strike, Pakistan should have done everything possible to avoid it inside Pakistan.

.
 Your country is only good for letting other counties violate your sovereignty not the other way around

We did mistake in the past and now we will rectify it. A little feel good monent Indians are having now....

Pakistan has options other than shooting down drone; one of them is to get out of peace process. All options are on the table....

these guys haven't spared anyone since the commies retreated, not spared their own, not spared those across the border, didn't spare those on the other side of the planet.

good luck, and yes, lets hope the backlash on the civilians of the region isn't too bloody.
Gen Dostum the part of much loved Northen alliance is now travel banned in America due to his war crimes.
he has burried people alive. in Northern alliance there are people who stuffed children of the poppy farmers as punishment who didnt comply. yes that place is a mess.

another loosely related subject (which we all missed) the son of former Governer of Punjab Tasir who was abducted by Uzbak millitants and taken to Afghanistan.. was rescued NOT by the American/ Afghan forces (as being claimed) but by Afghan Taliban (read Haqqanis) who raided the Uzbaks .. killed every single soul including women , children, old or young around the captive and then helped him to escape and drove him to a place where he could meet up with American base. (He himself has been interviewed ).. he was carefully grateful to Afghan taliban for their help. ..
(hmmm what is ...that?? )

coming back to the topic and responding to one of your replies to a Pakistani. (I have a liking for your posts) so just clarifying that in the international relations there is no such thing as fairness and equality. every nation uses its cards to its advantage (whether dealing with foes or friends) so there is always a senior partner and junior partner (not just in a skewed relationship between USA and Pakistan) the British commentators have same sort of resentment towards Americans that they are pushed over and their governments are obliged to please the Americans who will leave them in the dock when British need them (this fact deserves a separate thread).
So, NO, you are NOT trollign when you highlight the fact that Americans can always redefine the rules of engagement and the agreement (or lack of it) with Pakistan to their advantage. they are the sole super power and they do that with almost every other country (exception being their two top Middle east allies Israel and KSA)

Afghan issue is beyond the 80 era of Afghan Jihad project. with ISIS in the mix it is beyond what USA, PAK and KSA together made that turned into Al Qaeda/ Taliban. truth to be told, the Taliban project had tacit approval from USA, KSA and a westernised (anti Pak Army) Benazir Bhutto's government. and the idea was to bring order in the chaos (so convinently such American role is missed out even by some top names injournalism which only shows hypocracy & intellectual dishonesty).
(and that is an unfortunate history) as the monster became something which it planners had NOT planned.

in American defence, why Americans didn't decide to take the target out in Iran? maybe they didn't want to loose yet another drone to Iranian Mullahs and cause an unnecessary diplomatic rift when Obama is on his way out.

but it is being repeatedly suggested that Americans want to deal directly with those who hold the power and have the say in their opposing ranks and that are Haqqanis. therefore

Who are engaged in negotiations with Big 4. Only that leadership along with elements in Qatar. The military leadership is all in afghanistan. For Example Mullah Mannan was taken out in Afghanistan not in Pakistan
and when we arrested and handed over Mullah Brader to Americans then the complains were

  • oh Pakistanis disrupted the peace move by arresting a Taliban leader
  • oh see? another taliban leader in Pakistan
