Final preparations for Gazipur poll

A total of 1,026,938 voters – 527,777 males and 499,161 females – will exercise their franchise in 392 polling stations on Saturday to elect their first Mayor. Voting will take place from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

The eleventh City Corporation of the country was formed in January this year, comprising Tongi and Gazipur municipality, with an area of almost 330 square kilometres.

Over 11,000 law enforcers are expected to ensure peaceful voting.

There are 57 general wards and 19 reserved for women in this city.

A total of six candidates will be competing for the post of Mayor. The prime contest is expected between Awami League-backed Azmat Ullah Khan and opposition-supported MA Mannan.

. . . . .
Awami loons will try everything to take this one after getting bambooed in the other 4. :coffee:

. . . .
This country wont develop ever if voters elect thieves like Mannan. Who stole the money of Hazis.
And the pimp mullahs are working for him. Those mullahs dont believe in democracy and woman
empowerment. But for money they can sell themselves to anyone.
As like Bnp would fullfil their demands if it comes in power.

BTW no chance for bimpi to win here. This is like Bimpi can win in Gopalganj ever.

. .
The prime reason behind the defeat of AL in all the city elections has been its cowardly strike on innocent sleeping Hefazot members. I have seen many AL supporters even condemning it but obviously some brainwashed boot-lickers dont count. No matter what this Govt. does to justify its aggression against HeI members, Bangladesh is still a country with 90%+ muslims and such an operation against Alem-olama's will never be forgotten. Awamis should always know they will pay for it, today or tomorrow.

What certain folks don't understand is that one cannot hurt or attempt to destroy people's religious sentiments. Secularism does not necessarily have to equate into anti-religion.

They tried that in Afghanistan (Communists) and that was how and where the Taliban spawned with an ideology that is almost indestructible.

If you are a raging secularist and go around hurting people religious sentiments and justify them in a Muslim society; believe me you don't want that kind of attention.
