Gaza-Israel Conflict | October 2023

It should be obvious that the planners of Hamas would have known the consequences of their military operation. They are heroes to have willingly risked the lives of their families.

I think that an excessive reaction from Israel was expected and plays into the hands of Hamas. If Israel had absorbed the blow and responded in a measured way then Hamas would have been isolated and Israel would have become the international darling. Even Muslim countries would have speeded up their friendship process with Israel. But Hamas know the reality of Israelis better than anyone else in the world and they knew that Israel will go berserk.

Now Israel has become a pariah in most of the world and it can forget about building relations with Muslim countries. The more women and children it kills the more it speeds up the process of its own demise.
But if Israel had not reacted the way it has, what is there for Hamas to fear Israel and not conclude, aha, we have found the sweet spot, Go and slaughter a few thousand civilians, Israel will do some 'sturm und drang' running a couple of bombing raids and back to normalcy. Eventually, we can convince them this is a bad neighborhood, and they should just go to a better place. Generally, success begets success. For example, after 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, U.S. concluded that Lebanon is a hellhole, let's just walk away and let them kill each other till eternity. Same with Somalia after the 1993 Black Hawk incident. So, my thinking is, may be Hamas planned on this and thought we will sacrifice Gaza for some long-term success. If so, what may be Hamas's idea of long-term success and how that may come about?

I can only guess what their thinking was. It can be argued that they’ve already won in a lot of ways. They’ve shown the world that they cannot be ignored and they have sabotaged the Saudi-Israel deal. They’ve broken the myth of Israeli invincibility and exposed their barbarity for the whole world to see.

Beyond the normal list of successes, there’s another important factor that a real Muslim planner will take into account that only Muslims can understand. It is the help of God.

Muslims have a high tolerance for deaths because of their belief that the those who die in battle go to heaven without any questioning. Hamas’ behavior is consistent with Islamic teachings to stand up to the oppressor without being scared. When the Muslim follows God’s command then he can expect God’s help. He is promised one of two things: victory or paradise.

During the centuries when Muslims followed Islamic teachings they conquered and ruled over large parts of the world. When they became cowards and stopped following the Quran they became losers, like in today’s world.

That is not an endorsement of a Jewish state.

Al-Nusra was part of al-Qaeda.
Al-Nusra was the prolongued arm of Saudi-Arabia and the Gulf States to overthrow the illegal Assad regime.

The point you are ignoring is that Israel supported terrorists in the region.
Israel did not fund, arm nor train any rebels. They simply treated people in hospitals, some of which were rebels.

I think you have made a cogent argument for Hamas's strategy. The last one, 'victory or paradise' is a powerful motivator against an enemy who views a battle in terms of victory or failure.
 
 
They aren't dismantling Hamas. They're going to commit more terrorist attacks against the civilian population and push the region to the brink. All to please their blood hungry population that seeks genocide and regional war. Israeli govt is pushing Israelis into suicide.
