I am not a Turk nor Kemalist but couple of things are clear. Ottoman Empire had 13 million pool to recruit in 1914. Mustafa Kemal. Yes, I understand. It's not easy to oppose Israel/USA and have a strong economy. Turkey's policy is generally more balanced than I have suggested, although I hope it one day adjusts it in favour of the Palestinians.

Crazy story about Israeli special forces chasing a car near Ashkelon, suspecting it was a Qassam cell, but it was IDF soldiers deserting service, and the Israeli special forces killed them (presumably friendly fire/accident).

When Erdogan supported Palestine, the Arab world, led by Saudi, Egypt and the UAE, saw this as a threat of "neo-Ottomanism" and reacted much more harshly than Israel, and as a thank you to Erdogan, they formed an alliance with Greece/Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean against Turkey... That forced us to balance our relations with İsrael..
