It is not that simple. Israelis are still high on rage. What if they had some intel, good or bad, that there are some Hamas base/cache/people near/below the hospital and they lost their sense of balance (target value vs. loss of innocent lives)? It happened to U.S. too many times (all the droning of wedding processions etc.,). Somebody sees a pack of Taliban with RPGs, gives co-ordinates, by the time it gets down to Las Vegas, the fighters have moved away, and a wedding procession is nearby. The Las Vegas operator sees a bunch of people near the co-ordinates and presses the button causing a tragedy. War is an ugly business; urban war is far uglier.

Sanctions on Iraq caused over 500,000 children to die. US Secretary of State infamously said that the deaths were a price that was worth paying.

Iran - Iraq War is notable example. US supported Iraq in this war but liberated Kuwait from Iraq later. US also supported Afghanistan when it was occupied by Soviet Union but the so-called Mujahideen turned out be just as bad as the Soviet Union. One of these groups created Al-Qaeda Network and was involved in terrorist incidents around the world including 9/11. This group motivated US to destroy it and settle scores with Iraq and others as well. Ummah believers created ISIL in response instead of helping other Muslims. This is our reality. Corruption and mischief everywhere.

Muslims are split on nationalistic, political, and religiopolitical grounds around the world. Muslims have killed other Muslims on these grounds, still do.
