Gas pipeline blown up in Balochistan | Pakistan | DAWN.COM

BALOCHISTAN: Some miscreants blew up an 18-inch Sui gas pipeline in the early hours of Sunday in the Uch area of Balochistan, DawnNews reported.

According to the report, the explosion suspended gas supply to the Uch power plant in Balochistan causing a reduction of more than 525 megawatts of power generation.

As a result, electricity supply in many areas in Lahore and Punjab has been shelved.

Gas officials said that repair work has already commenced and restoration could take about two days.

Barely two days earlier, a gas pipeline explosion in Quetta, reduced 150 megawatts of power generation due to which Habibullah Coastal Power and Sheikh Munda Power Houses are still closed.

The overall electricity shortage in the country has reached 5000 megawatts.

Mere 5000 Mw ,then it's very easy to reduce the deficit. Two power plants of adequate sizes can generate that amount of electricity. It would take them only max of 4-5 years to overcome the deficit.

So given the security situation in Balochistan, is the Iran-Pak pipeline feasible, I dont think so.

It is feasible..
Pakistan is used to these type of acts and crew have good experience of repair...
Blown up pipe line can be repaired easily....
Baloch terrorists wont make any difference by blowing up these pipelines.....
Only make themselves look stupid...more stupid than they already are...

Up until recently we had the same problem in our NE especially Assam.

Feel free to do so

But how does "Maoists blew up some rail tracks in Bihar yesterday" have anything to do with Blowing pipelines in Baluchistan?

Get the drift man.....is it worth opening a thread just because some gas pipeline or Railtrack gets blown up......it's almost an everyday thing in some parts of the sub continent. !!

Blowing pipelines in Baluchistan can impact energy security of Pakistan as well as have problems for Iran-Pakistan pipeline plans.

blowing up some rail tracks in Bihar at the worst case can lead to lower FDI for Bihar and some delays in trains.
