Massive and deadly demonstrations in the Egyptian capital have called for an end to Hosni Mubarak's three-decade rule.

The protests come on the heels of weeks of unrest in Tunisia, which culminated in long-time president Ben Ali's departure to Saudi Arabia.

In both Tunisia and Egypt, as well as Algeria, Jordan and several other Arab countries, protesters are asking for autocratic governments to be held accountable for high unemployment, soaring food prices, and political repression.

The US and other Western countries are strong allies of many of these Arab governments, including Egypt's. But recent protests have led many to question whether democracy and liberalisation should take precedence over security and stability.

Arab human rights and democracy advocates hope that Tunisia was the first in a series of dominos to fall, creating new hope for increased political freedom and economic advancement.

However, in Egypt and elsewhere, political observers wonder whether Islamists - in addition to liberals and leftists - will most benefit from the decline of autocratic rule.

. . . .
Every Nation reserves their democratic right of peaceful assembly and protest while not getting violent and it really turns people like Zain al abadin on their heads.

I just cannot believe that Middle east is being ruled by Authoritarian rulers in 21st centuary.

See Egypt's Husni Mubarak , Tunis's ex PM zain al abadin , Yamen , Saudi Arabia , Lybia , Sudanese President Umar Al bashir , they all are hurdels in the progress of their respective nations.

Pakistanis must change to bring change in Pakistan , we have to behave properly and get our work done peacefully given that our country is already in Turmoil.

Pakistan cannot sustain a civil unrest so its up to us the Green Youth to stand up and prepare well for taking matters in our own hands peacefully and democratically.

Education is our ace in the hole and we must exploit every opportunity of gaining more support and spreading awareness at the same time.

Lets not fill our streets with blood , i hope there is a way which can lead to peaceful transformation of this country , all we have to do is just to find and act when needed.

i think you cant compare pakistan to egypt/tunisia etc. there is already a democratic system in place in paksitan, all its citizens need to do is to know how to vote the right person in, they really need to find this ability.

pakistan has demo system right, but its just like dictatorship.. there is no body other than corrupts to vote, than military takes over... there is no demo within there party too

revolution is earnestly needed to put the right people in government

Dont opt for revolution, kugga explained it already. yes, bring changes but not violent street activities, it will bring more damages to you. as i said earlier, people need to find the ability and talent to find and vote the right people, thats all you need to do. if zardari and his party is corrupt and unfair, dont vote him in next election.

O bhai.... Allah na karey Pakistan mein ab aisa hua tou phr lag samjh jaaey gee..... You cannot expect a peaceful protest from an already violent nation...

When you oppress a nation so much then what do you expect from them?

Revolutions are a part of any nation's course

America has nothing to do with Egypts politics. I believe Obama, asked Mbarak to step down during his state of the union speech.
