India is late.

In the past I already told Indians about it, how important the international cooperation on infrastructure project to connect multiple countries.

But for whatever reasons, Indian members seem to have their own opinion about it.

If not, India economy is not as low as today, at least India reached half or two-third of China economy today.

Anyway, I'm glad that India finally realizes its mistake and full spirited engage it.

Day by day India is improving, fixing all wrong perspectives.


There's another one big problem that India should fix to improve their economy furthermore, which is statistics.

To reach development equality and prosperity to all people.

It 20 years since CPEC was going to be the engine of trade for Pakistan. Where is that trade ?
Dumb ***, get the facts straight, it has been 8 years since CPEC projects started in 2015, not your Indian typical BS of 20 years. Second, they have just finished the first phase of building infra and energy plants in CPEC, which a person with half brain knows are not responsible to generate trade. Industrial parks and special economic zones building phase 2 have just started now.

Honestly, this seems to be a logistical nightmare.

Its all good you want to bypass Pakistan, Iran, China etc.

But has a feasibility study done? You’re going to load goods into ships, unload, and transport the goods via rail or road onwards to Middle East and Israel.

All the goods that pass through Suez already have been loaded and unloaded multiple times before they even get on a ship. In a ship they will be in a container that can easily be moved to a train and back to a ship.

Trains are faster than ships and this route is shorter than the one through Suez - not to mention that a ship can take up to 16 hours to go through the canal even after paying the transit fees.
The Chinese BRI has already got a 2 decade head start. And eventually it will link Iran, Middle East with BRI.
How much trade has gone through the CPEC transport projects in these two decades? To how many countries? How many billion $$$ has the positive impact on the Pakistani economy in these two decades been ?
Seems the net winner in all these games are the Arabs.
Arabs will be spending most of the money. They will have the most at risk. The biggest winner will actually be Israel. It will get a much shorter route to India and beyond and Haifa will become an important transit hub.

I mean American executive power is accountable to Congress and courts. America doesn't have state run enterprises and when Americans give development aid they don't impose conditions that only American companies and American labour can be used.

No one in India knows what PISA is. Even I had to Google it. It is a competition for 15 year old kids. What does that have to do with engineering talent. Almost no on in India knows about it and India hasn't participated there since 2009. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Top engineering departments in US universities, especially in CS and EE are full of Indian faculty and doctoral students and top tech companies are run by India-educated executives. There may be some great Viet engineers as well but it is not the first company an American executive will think of when he has to find engineers at a lower cost than in the US.

Blah.

In reality, the problem with private companies, its commitment and they are choosy,


I think for years you have been reading false information.

China aid is not imposing conditions, that is why it's very popular worldwide.

The bad side of not imposing conditions is that some countries underserve to recieve any funds, but they received it anyway.

That leads to more problems than solving a problem.


PISA is very important to know the future of a country.

Experts from 90 countries to attend 3rd Belt and Road Forum​

More than 90 countries, including leaders, ministers, and representatives from partner economies of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), are set to participate in the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) in Beijing in October, as announced by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning. The forum is considered a significant event in the 10th anniversary of the BRI, aiming to foster high-quality cooperation among nations. While some developed countries won’t attend, the emphasis is on quality and effectiveness, with a focus on collaboration for development primarily involving emerging economies. The BRI has shown positive impacts on global trade, GDP, and poverty reduction, in contrast to Western misconceptions portraying it as a geopolitical alliance.

Representatives from more than 90 countries have confirmed their participation in the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF), which will be held in Beijing in October, Mao Ning, a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, told a press conference on Thursday.

According to Mao, leaders, ministers and other official representatives from partner economies of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as well as people from various fields such as business, think tanks and civil society who actively support and participate in BRI cooperation, will attend the forum.

Heads and representatives of many international organizations have also confirmed their participation, and it is believed that more attendees will confirm their participation, Mao said.

“The BRF is the grandest event of the 10th anniversary of the BRI this year, and an important platform for all parties to discuss and build BRI cooperation with high quality,” she noted.

Ahead of the forum, some foreign media have been consistently badmouthing the BRI, claiming that certain leaders of developed countries will not attend the forum, before detailed information about the event is released.

A source familiar with the event preparation told the Global Times earlier that the vast majority of invitations were extended to developing countries, while some developed countries will not be included. “Whether it’s the invitation of leaders or related cooperative arrangements, China is pursuing not scale and quantity, but quality and effectiveness,” the source said.

According to the source, the core purpose of the forum is to collaborate on development, with the majority of participants of the BRI being emerging economies. Consequently, invited leaders will come mostly from developing countries.

“Over the past 10 years, the BRI has changed the rules of the game, contributing to the maintenance of multilateralism, creating better development conditions for developing countries, and providing countries along the BRI with China’s development model and experience. The BRI has become the world’s most popular public good, as it brought hope and a new development path to the global economy,” Liang Haiming, dean of Hainan University’s Belt and Road Research Institute said.

Data from China’s customs showed on Thursday that in the first eight months of this year, China’s trade with economies along the BRI totaled 12.62 trillion yuan ($1.72 trillion), up 3.6 percent year-on-year.

A report from the World Bank showed that the construction of the BRI has increased trade among participants by 4.1 percent and raised the GDP of low-income countries by 3.4 percent. Benefiting from the BRI, the GDP share of emerging and developing economies increased by 3.6 percentage points from 2012 to 2021.

The World Bank estimates that by 2030, the construction of the BRI will generate annual benefits of $1.6 trillion for the world, accounting for 1.3 percent of global GDP. A total of 7.6 million people will be lifted out of absolute poverty and 32 million out of moderate poverty from 2015 to 2030.

“Moreover, the BRI, which is aimed at maintaining world peace and development, is fundamentally different from the zero-sum logic of the West,” Liang noted.

Contrary to what the West claims, the initiative is neither a geopolitical nor a military alliance, nor an “exclusionary bloc” or a “high-class club,” but a process of openness, inclusiveness and common development, the expert said.

Why do so many Chinese companies and engineers work in Pakistan ? Are there no Pakistani or American or Middle Eastern or Turk companies that can do the same work ? It is because China insists on Chinese companies and labour. China gives very little aid free of conditions.

The US doesn't rank very high yet it produces very successful engineers and scientists out of college and PhD programs. Usually children from East Asian countries do better on these tests because of societal pressure to do well on these tests. Meanwhile the American and European countries still lead in doing real innovation and winning Nobel Prizes.

So, what happened in Sri Lanka and what is currently happening in Pakistan?

It is just a label. All that a good PISA score tells you is that a student is good at taking a PISA test. The US doesn't rank very high yet it produces very successful engineers and scientists out of college and PhD programs. Usually children from East Asian countries do better on these tests because of societal pressure to do well on these tests. Meanwhile the American and European countries still lead in doing real innovation and winning Nobel Prizes.

There are more than hundreds of countries that joined BRI.

Not all Chinese companies and engineers work on the projects, that will depend on which part of the project required experts from aboard.

Usually, one project is divided into multiple segments and mostly done by the local workers. Only the segments that required experts from aboard will be done by foreign experts.

It's a very common practice worldwide, just like India HSR project.


That is the question that should be asked to Sri Lanka and Pakistan, why is they are problematic while others are not?


For PISA, the effect is the future.

Fool, you think Pakistan should hire Indians and Americans to build the CPEC projects and should then call it IPEC or APEC instead if you Indians or Americans are ever able to build any crap ? Don't make BS on CPEC labors and others. For the record, quotes:

"The data collected provides that only 7 percent (3,780)of the total jobs created is attributed to Chinese nationals while 93 percent (47,800) of the workers are form Pakistan."

Depends on the the time vs cost equation. If the goods transported quicker can be more profitable than a cheaper sea route but time consuming via Suez, then the trade would make sense. Also, it provides an alternate route bypassing the Suez, which can come in handy if the Canal is blocked through various means. Also, since the rote is mostly desert and funded by the GCC(Gulf Railway), it may be financially feasible!!

India is participating in a similar land-road-sea route to Russia via Iran. This too will provide the strategic autonomy to Russia while having a faster route: The North South Transport Corridor!!

Here it's much shorter then standard route
And there's just one time loading and offloading on ships
Unlike multiple times on this USA proposed plan

Middle East still needs its own railway network

So that can work for intra regional transport

But not gonna be economical for connectivity between Europe and India

Ha Ha, good for your India.
Yeah that reminds me how many nuclear power plants did USA install in India after signing that historical nuclear agreement???
