G20 Hangzhou 2016 News and Updates

Hangzhou is probably more a shock to them....
No need to bring about China's 1st tier cities, China does not need to show Shanghai or Shenzhen, so out-of-fashion!
Next time G20 in China, China should give the chance to our 3/4th tier cities. :D

They should hold the next G20 meeting in Kunming so that they can have the privilege to witness China's natural beauty. In the IT sector Hangzhou is becoming a household name, and in the future, I believe it can compete with Silicon Valley. Most people who have never visited China would be shocked on how good the 3/4 tier cities are.

.
You must be able t read minds! I was just watching the G20 reporting on Sky News and they showed a group shot of all the world leaders. It was interesting who was talking to and what about. From the video;

Theresa May was shoulder to shoulder with Australian prime minister Malcolm turnbull, and they seemed to be engrossed in meaningful conversation. This is probably to do with Australia and the UK, wanting even closer ties with each other after Brexit.

President Obama was talking to the South African president, and the Argentine president and Indonesian president. It didn't look very deep, just light chatter.

Angela Merkel looked a bit out of place, but then started speaking to the Indonesian leader.

The big talking point was how close Turkish president Erdogan was to Putin! They had their hands on each other's shoulders and were pointing and gesturing, yes something big was going on.

The South Korean leader looked muted and kept on staring at Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe.

The Indian minster had a big grin on his face and seemed to love the press attention.

The Chinese leader looked very happy and was looking around to see if everything was going well.

President Hollande looked straight ahead.

Canada's popular leader Justin Trudeau had the biggest smile of all on his face. The Chinese media and common folk have gone crazy for the dude hahaha.

Japanese prime minister Abe looked very clam and looked straight ahead.

Very interesting descripsion of the video. You really have fantastic observation and insight ability. :enjoy:

Shanghai (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) spoke about competition and transparency at a meeting with Indonesian citizens who live, work or study in China, on Saturday (Sept. 3).

"Competition is unavoidable. So, openness and competition is part of our commitment," he said at a meeting in Shanghai.

The President, who is in China for the G20 summit, called on the people to prepare well to deal with the competition.

He told those who are pursuing further study or working abroad to equip themselves with skills and expertise if they wish to return and work in the country.

"Those who are working at Alibaba here, for example, may later set up Alibaba Indonesia," he exhorted.

He also called on those who are in China to learn how the Asian country developed so fast.

"We need to understand how were they are able to build railroads stretching 2,000 kilometers within a year," he stressed.

He noted that when he had first visited China, they still had 18,000 kilometers of railroads but right now, they already have 21,000 kilometers.

"(We must think) how we can catch up," he added.

He noted that citizens who stayed abroad and gained special expertise could return to help build the country.

Those who stay in China may also act as marketers for Indonesian tourism, he stated.

"Indonesian citizens in China can promote those places in Indonesia which are worth visiting," he observed.

He reminded that Indonesia is a country with various natural wonders and is worth visiting by foreign tourists.

He informed that he and Chinese President Xi Jinping have signed a cooperation agreement on tourism.

He explained that the two countries had agreed to ensure that ten million Chinese tourists visit Indonesia and it has shown results.

"Manado (North Sulawesi) last month saw an increase in foreign tourist arrivals, reaching up to 1,000, due to direct flights from four provinces in China. People in Manado are now setting up restaurants and hotels," he disclosed.

At the meeting, President Jokowi was flanked by First Lady Iriana and a number of cabinet ministers.

Turkey, China sign three agreements on energy, agriculture ahead of G20 summit

Turkey and China signed three agreements covering nuclear security, energy and agricultural health certification Saturday during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit ahead of the G20 summit in the coastal Chinese city of Hangzhou.

Erdoğan and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping held talks and presided over meetings between delegates from the two countries.

Erdoğan expressed hopes that Turkish-Chinese relations would be strengthened.

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak signed two deals titled "Regulation Concerning Cooperation on Nuclear Security Field" and "Cooperation Agreement on Renewable Energy and Coal" on behalf of Turkey. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and China National Energy Administration Chairman Nur Bekri signed the respective agreements on behalf of the Far Eastern nation.

China is Turkey's third trade partner worldwide after Germany and Russia, and its first trade partner in the Far East, according to Ankara's Foreign Ministry.

Erdoğan arrived in Hangzhou on Saturday for the 2016 G20 summit, set to be held Sunday through Monday.

On the sidelines of the gathering, he is expected to hold meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States President Barack Obama.

i'm surprised that only 3 agreements have been made and not more. I'm sure ties with China will be broader and deeper the more Turkey, step by step, shifts away from the US (due to 'coup' attempt by Gulenists who were supported by the CIA) to Russia and east. Point of no return has been passed regarding US ties and from now on it shound't be farfetched to expect that military and (geo)political ties with the US/Nato will slowly decrease while ties with Russia and China will increase in the coming years/decades. Especially Pakistan can play a constructive role in stimulating partnership/co-operation between China-Pakistan-Turkey. Hence the focus of the Turkish media about the G20 is more aimed at the Erdogan-Putin meeting than other items.

Yes despite only three agreements (nuclear security, energy and agricultural) are signed as of now between China and Turkey, I do share same view with you, more deals are expected to come, in far more extensive context from trade, technology to possibly even regional security. The trend has just begun.

Perhaps Turkish media might have grasped moment like below? Xi as host, Erdogan and Putin right next to him, the latter two obviously have alot to talk about, so much that they don't even shy away from camera, very interesting moment!

Agreed, i'm looking forward to see my country developing serious and meaningful ties with China and Russia, even militarily. The day we get self-sufficient enough defense industry wise in order to get rid of nato/US 'alliance' (or somehow even sooner), will be one of the best days for Turkey, of that i'm sure of.

haha, it seems Obama got a bit disturbed in the picture. He can only thank himself, his administration and the CIA for their shortsighted, hostile and rash actions that have finally pushed the Turkish leadership to take the plunge and do what the Turkish public in general (anti-Americanism was very high and will be even higher in Turkey after the 'coup' attempt in last July; http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/07/15/which-countries-dont-like-america-and-which-do/) desired since the last decade or two; get rid of US/nato influence, especially on our foreign policy. Obama and his successor shall keep looking, just like in that picture. I just hope our govt will stay steadfast and firm against any shit the US might throw at Turkey in the future in order to attempt to get rid of Erdogan and derail Turkey's ties with Russia and China.

Commentary: Three Stories to Footnote "Chinese Imprint"
By Lu Xinning (People's Daily) 05:05, September 05, 2016

FOREIGN201609050529000232510924361.jpg

Artists dance during an evening gala for the G20 summit at the West Lake scenic zone in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, Sept. 4, 2016.

The ancient city Hangzhou has abundant cultural heritage to offer as its name card: The Three pools Mirroring the Moon, the Spring dawning the Su Causeway, and the great canal winding its way north, etc. The charm of the lower reach of Yangtze River in China is marked as “Chinese imprint”.

Besides the imprint of beautiful sceneries, there is another imprint, abstract but even more enchanting. As the Group 20 (G20) Summit gathers world leaders in Hangzhou, and the Business 20 (B20) Summit offers platform for ideas to clash in the same city. By the Qiantang River and the West Lake, what kind of “Chinese imprint” will Hangzhou make?

“Build an open global economy”, “promote inclusive development”… In the opening remarks at the G20 Summit in Hangzhou, Chinese President Xi Jinping has written out prescription for the global economy. A day before, in the keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the B20 Summit, President Xi said, “It is meant to build not China’s own backyard garden, but a garden shared by all countries.” China is not the challenger to the current international institution, but a contributor to it. There are stories to best footnote Xi’s speeches, decoding an answer the world has been looking forward to.

The first story is a story about silk. Hangzhou has been hailed as “the Homestead of Silk” since ancient time. From thousands of years ago, the silk from Hangzhou has travelled the desert and the sea to be sold in all across the world.

The story is blessed with a new note in modern times. President Xi has launched the Belt and Road Initiative, linking the two biggest economic and cultural veins in the world and playing a modern symphony of connectivity. The Initiatives have been acknowledged by all countries to whom it has extended its way. It is a road of trade, a road where civilizations meet, and a road that leads to peace and friendship. The Belt and Road Initiative is to inject “positive energy” into the world today, and is marked as the new “Chinese imprint”.

The second story is a story of “green mountains and clear water”. “Green mountains and clear water are as good as mountains of gold and silver,” President Xi made this dialectic notion in his speech while he held office in Zhejiang. Under the guidance of this philosophy, the once polluted mountain and water regained its bright pigments. Hangzhou, hailed as “Paradise on Earth”, has once again taken pride in its beautiful sceneries.

Such philosophy can be applied to a worldwide context. It is estimated that it will take five times the resources of the Earth to afford 1.3 billion Chinese to live “American lifestyle”. President Xi has made the promise that in the next five years, China will see a 23 percent decrease in water usage per GDP unit, a 15 percent decrease in energy consumption, and a 18 percent in carbon dioxide emission. Blue sky, green mountains, and clear water are another “Chinese imprint” to look forward to.

The protagonist of the third story is “Alibaba”. “Just one click of the mouse in Hangzhou, and you will be connected to the whole world,” said President Xi in his keynote speech. The e-commerce has reached a record 91.2 billion yuan ($14.3 billion) on a single day’s sale boost last year. Alibaba, the company who achieved this feat was established merely in 1999 and listed in the United States in 2014. With deep root in China’s ancient wisdom together with the gigantic market needs in China, the “Dream-maker” Alibaba is the embodiment of the thousands of Chinese enterprises that constitute the modern “Chinese imprint”.

The chart of ancient Silk Road has been extended to today, the green mountains and blue water is writing the history for generations to come, and the lively e-commerce companies are echoing the era of information… The three Hangzhou stories are the footnotes of today’s China. For the past 30 years, China has embraced the world with an open mind. The appeals made by President Xi come from the profound lessons learned in China’s own stories.

China’s “Moonlit night on Spring River” echoed Debussy’s “Moonlight”, and China’s zither melody “Mountain Stream” dances with the prestigious ballet “Swan Lake”. On the night of September 4, the G20 opening gala performance on the West Lake in Hangzhou has allowed a dialogue between “Chinese imprint” and culture from other parts of the world. Looking out to the future, the world economy will set sail again from this new starting point in Hangzhou towards a bigger ocean.

I saw Obama giving sneaky looks at all their puppets when talking with Putin and Xi. It's to see whether they are getting close with Russia and China.

Anyone even remotely having a talk with Putin or Xi is viewed suspiciously by the Yankees.

Erdogan and Putin were talking quite a bit, this made Obama suspicious.

Yankees probably think their puppets should get permission from them before talking to Russia and China.

Is he giving the evil eye to Xi? Still butthurt about the reception? :D

He may have overheard the word "Trump" a few times....and he got a rage attack about it :P
