can there ever be friendly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh? If not between the governments but what about the people of the two nations? How do Bangladeshis feel towards Pakistanis and Pakistan?

Interesting question. Let me try to answer. But before that let me also tell you that I fully support our current government (Sheikh Hasina's Govt.) because of all the advancements are going on.

I have personally met a lot of Pakistani people as I lived in the UK for few years. And I found them people just us, however, I found Pakistani people a bit less rational. I hope, I've chosen the right word "less rational". I came to know that they learn from their history books in schools that India is the country which accelerated the Bangladeshi Independent War movement which is far away from the real truth. It was then Pakistani government who ignited the conflict. If you look at the general election of 1970 then you would see the point I am trying to make. Also, another big point is discrimination. I read an statistical data where it says that 1 out of 10 major ranked officials were from the East Pakistan and 9 from West whereas 55% of the population back then was from the East. It was almost the same in other government jobs too. If you look at the building of infrastructure then you would see the same discrimination happened. More dams, bridges, roads were built in the West than in the East.

Previously, like in 2000 or before, people of Bangladesh were not that conscious. They were more religiously charged than being factual. But the current generation is learning these truths. Now a lot of us truly demand an official apology from Pakistani government. Until we are getting such a statement, I can assure you that we, normal Bangladeshis will hardly see Pakistan as a friendly country. It's mainly because of the bitter past we share. We are not also seeing active role from normal people except that Imran Khan guy who once said something in favour of this issue. So, you tell me, why would we like such a nation which doesn't recognize the "GENOCIDE"?

I do not mean to hurt anyone. I just opened myself up for the sake of answering this question. Peace out guys.

PS: Pakistan didn't even send their cricket team to Bangladesh whereas they were supposed to send

What apology do you expect from British Pakistanis of whom you have great interaction with? Many Brit Pakistani have nothing to do with Pakistani history books nor the education system in Pakistan. The vast majority of Brit Paks originate from rural heartlands of Punjab and Azad Kahsmir. Communities that are certainly not diverse as Karachi which has dozens of communities such as Rohingya Bangladeshis Farsis Afghans Indians Baloch Pashtuns Arabs etc. If you feel so strong about an apology why don't you protest out the Pak high commission in London? Regarding the Cricket team, many times BD have rejected Paks offer to tour the country (Pak) with extra added security. Pak even criticised and defended BD when Australia refused to tour the country in the wake of attacks on bloggers. I've had online interaction with people from BD and many have told me how the current BD government has deep rooted hatred for Pak and constantly plays along the Indian narrative of 'Pak responsible for terrorism' 'Pak responsible for destabilising BD' 'Pak killing its own citizens'. Keep playing along with India's narrative for myths and fairy tales.

Bangladesh were supposed to visit Pakistan for a T-20 series but refused to come..Why would you suppose Pakistan to come when Bangladesh itself does not visit Pakistan ?

I think it's right to say Pakistanis don't have hatred for Bangladeshis, instead there is actual love for Banglalis, or maybe used to be. The hostile government in Bangladesh is worsening ties, even though history is not so good we should work on repairing ties and build a friendlier environment of whatever trade we can have with each other.
Government in Bangladesh is to be blamed for most part. I don't see ties improving as long as Haseena is in power.

I will say this, one of the strongest brotherly friendship I seen in RL was between a BD and Pakistani. They were college dorm mates for just a year...and on opposite sides of the world now pretty much. The BD one I consider like brother today...and he still tells me to this day how kind, polite, gracious and all around good mate the Pak guy was....."truly one of the best people you could ever know". I am sure that did change some perspectives my BD mate had about Pakistan (at least the people)...like I did over time for India (though other Indians do try their darndest sometimes to change it back hehe).

I say forget the govts we all have as much as we can...they often represent the worst in us after all...and focus on the people... Govts and histories are what we inherit to large degree....but common people, thats who can change things one good bond at a time. We don't got much time on this world when you think about it.
