You have to be careful when passing those over-generalizing statements about foreign people. An euro-centric analogy would be you saying Spanish and Germans look the same (maybe a Chinese might think so because they're not used to seeing whites?) - but the statement could be very offensive to both groups (especially the Germans ; ) ).

An average Indian looks like the picture below. The only people who look different are the Punjabis and neighboring ethnicities (all bordering Pakistan), who constitute something like 4-6% of India's population - but they totally dominate Bollywood and I guess that is what confuses you.

In Pakistan, Karachiites look Indian because they migrated from northern India during partition. So if you've ever come across an Indian-looking Pakistani, you've most likely met a highly Indic Muhajir.

Average Indian:

Unfortunately, we seem to have better ties with North Korea.

What's wrong with that? Aren't they humans too? Don't they have feelings? Do they not have the right to defend themselves? Or should we dislike them because the Americans told us to do so? If that's the case then the British raj never ended. It lives on in your mind and soul.

whats religon got to do with this? a pakistani looks just like an indian and can both be treated the same in a foreign country. it the apperance that counts. how on earth am i going to know if some one is muslim by face front value.

back in those days (the 60's)pakistan was in the same boat as china japan and the koreas its a shame that they all took off (economically) except for pakistan. as for ties its normal i would assume. im no sure on the japanese but they would be more proindia and more anti pakistani i have seen japanese papers posting articles which are very anti pakistani. the chinese obivously like pakistan. singapore however?

I can answer all of your objections one by one but not here since it will diverge the discussion. If you really want to discuss it, open a new thread with appropriate title and tag me there and we can have a comprehensive discussion about it but not here. Leave this thread clean and focus on constructive discussion. I hope you understand because after all you are a good person. I spent eight months in S. Korea and traveled to many cities and places and I have 4 very good friends/classmates from Korea at NUS thus what I said is based on my personal experience

It is about Korea and Pakistan. I wish Pakistan can learn from and collaborate with S. Korea, Singapore, China and other friendly countries about how to develop in a comprehensive and sustainable manner within a short period of time. Today Korea is home to some of the biggest global players with original R&D like Samsung, KIA, Hyundai etc...I think these are household names in most of the countries. The respected ambassador has such a favorable opinion and wish for Pakistan and govt of Pakistan should exploit this opportunity.

Like the honorable ambassador, I'm also a well-wisher of Pakistan

Tell you one thing...of all people, Korean are the most unbiased and open-minded people especially towards Islam and Muslim as opposed to the west. They are not racist and like to do their research before publishing/broadcasting their stuff. He has said nice things about your country. Pakistan should develop close ties with this great nation.

We don't have a direct from North Korea or any other issue but of course we have relations with both the countries and better with South Korea. Your statement is unfortunately not factual.

FFS. Of all the things the diplomat said, the only thing that stuck with the discussion is the one thing that no one alive has any control over; melanin variation. Why not discuss and highlight the socio-economic reforms that has and is still bringing changes in many countries. How can political corruption and public indifference be overcome so that such reforms have actual significance?

I stayed in Itwaeon for the first two months out total 8 months at SNU. I traveled to other cities and found S. Koreans to be friendly and courteous apart from one or two insignificant events.

I agree with you. It looks people have focused on that part instead of focusing on what's constructive and significant.

However you can have good relations with both in a balanced way and rather try to play positive role between the two countries with sincerity and wisdom. That should actually be an edge since many countries do not have good relations with both Koreas,

No need to apologise, everyone makes mistakes.

Pakistan does have good relations with both Koreas and supports a unified one, but we have been far more helpful to the North, mainly because of nuclear benefits. Whilst I do believe North Korea is demonised more than it should be (and its haters are usually just as bad), they are still a nasty lot we should try to mix with minimally. If we mingle with them too much, we can end up just like them.
