From 2004-05 to 2011-12: 419pc increase noted in imports from China

ISLAMABAD: There is a major increase of 419 percent in imports from China from 2004-05 to 2011-12 as far as value of 25 industrial and agriculture sectors items of Pakistan are concerned that include electrical machinery, fertilizers, iron and steel/articles of iron and steel, man-made filaments/staple fibre, vegetables and paper/paperboard.
It is learnt here on Saturday that the total value of imports from China amounted to Rs 603,703 million during 2011-12 against value of imports worth Rs 116,270 million during 2004-05, reflecting a growth of 419 percent. The FBR has compiled ‘Customs Chapter-Wise’ imports data from China for 2011-12. The one year data of 2011-12 covers the actual value of major commodities imported from China. The item-wise data indicated that imports in terms of value of 25 items have increased significantly during 2004-2005 and 2011-12. It included electrical machinery, fertilizers, iron and steel & articles of iron and steel, man-made filaments & staple fibre, vegetables and paper & paperboard. The import of these items as raw materials are important both for industrial and agriculture sectors of Pakistan.
The latest data of imports from China revealed that during 2011-12, the value of imports of electrical machinery stood at Rs 143,774 million in 2011-12; mechanical appliances, Rs.71,410 million; man-made staple fibers, Rs.19,744 million; man-made filaments , Rs.39,991 million; organic chemicals, Rs.36,454 million; iron and steel, Rs.28,712 million; plastics, Rs.19,282 million; rubber, Rs.15,450 million; articles of iron or steel, Rs.15,254 million; vehicles, Rs.15,410 million; miscellaneous Chemical products, Rs.11,761 million; fertilizers, Rs.24,990 million; vegetables, certain roots etc, Rs. 6,576 million; inorganic chemicals, Rs.9,278 million; tanning/ dyeing extracts etc, Rs.8,512 million; paper and paperboard, Rs.8,654 million; clocks and watches, Rs.7,226 million; footwear, gaiters etc, Rs.5,903 million; textile fabrics, textile articles, Rs.4,832 million; ceramic products, Rs.9,717 million; special classification, Rs.5,401 million; glass and glassware, Rs.5,524 million and value of imports of coffee, tea, mate, spices amounted at Rs.3,577 million during 2011-12.

Why this article doesn't talk about the trade deficit ??
I hope it must be higher than 127 billion Rs trade deficit which is with India,..
No offence, just want to know the amount of goods exported from pakistan..
