Friendship with India

There is a sizable segment of Indian thought which believes that a successful Pakistan validates the two nation theory, whereas a failed Pakistan validates those opposed to it.

Two nation theory was dead to us in 1947 when many Muslims didnt move to the homeland they created supposedly for Muslims (or 1971 is another case).

Also, in this day and age, Two nation theory has no relevance in India. To most Indians, Pakistan is just another country. The fact that you guys want to kill us and harm our territorial integrity is the only problem we have with you guys, something that only you guys can fix...

Tell me how we holded dagger :woot: It was since day 1, Pakistan never wanted good relations with India when a nation created on two-nation theory interfered in Junagarh within one month of independence.

Thier ruler wanted to join Pakistan? hypocirsy huh ?

It's not about enemies.

India and China also have border disputes, but the ONLY way to deal with India is from a position of (economic, diplomatic, military, media, etc.) strength.

India-Pakistan relations would actually improve much better if Pakistan was stronger in these other aspects. The author believes that Pakistan cannot succeed without India, and that is his blindspot -- he doesn't see a whole wide world out there.

Agreed. There are a lot of attention seeking authors like this one going around nowadays so one can only laugh at their intelligence.

For the vast majority, it doesn't matter either ways.

Except how it impacts India. TNT is not an issue in India at all.

Not at all. Pakistani elite have never understood that true strength comes, not just from the military, but from the full spectrum of economics, diplomacy, media, etc., etc.

In none of them, Pakistan can ever hope to match India.

It shouldn't bother trying to be even stevens with a much larger country that doesn't give a damn. It doesn't try to do that with Afghanistan, Iran or China after all.

It is India's greatest luck that Pakistan never took care of the feudals the way India did.

India couldn't care less. You only presume that India is your counterpart or your equal in any sense of the word.

I am not trying to put down anyone here. It is just that we don't see anything in common with Pakistan.

The same people? Surely not - Hindustan Times

India's changing stance towards China shows us that that's the ONLY way to deal with India.

China India and Pakistan India issues and dynamics are totally different.

Some people in Pakistan, like the author, are confused about this identity; the rest of us have moved on long ago.

We would be very happy if it was true.

Unfortunately, the unceasing flow of terrorists from Pakistan and the whole basis on which the country seems to be run, counters that.

Friendship with India is only possible when they handover the illegally occupied kashmir to Pakistan!
still u are not learning from past mistakes....first of all be economically and militarily strong...then only pakistan should ask for kashmir...

People in pakistan consider Americans a bigger threat than india whereas india is still stuck in 1947 separation. I used to think that pakistan is wrong by not extending a hand of friendship to india but during my time here in UK i have never met an indian who is not suffering from pakistan phobia except some indian muslims or indians born abroad.

we know who has hands in terror attacks in India, most fresh memory is the Mumbai attacks. Pakistan ended up feeling America as enemy number 1 because of their obsession to hurt India.

You know, many people will never want to believe the highlighted part that is obvious to us.

they want to believe that we want to undo partition, that we still care for TNT, that India obsesses with Pakistan to the same degree as they do.

Our negligence for them is even more of a shocker (and a problem) than our supposed enmity.

we're already 4th largest in gdp (ppp)

No we took over Japan last year n r currently 3rd largest in PPP terms.

But it doesn't matter to me unless it becomes nominal...:)

That actually makes no sense.

Secondly this is a two way sword so don't expect to be left unscathed after using it.

The majority of indians are full of hate for our country and people - unfortunately it is a conflict to the knife.

Dude, Pakistan is supporting Afghan Taliban to keep India out of Afghanistan that ended with Pakistan's hostility towards America.

Your main haters are within. ;)

Your thrilling bus rides (more adventurous than climbing Everest, remember?) are not because of Indians.

We don't shout "Shia kaapir, Shia kaapir" before gunning down bus passengers.
