France-Egypt Plane Deal Blocked by US, Fearing Spread of Missile Tech - Expert

US subsidy is huge. Egypt is second to Israel with US aid. So is Egypt paying with American charity. Yes and no. America subsides Egypt as a way to bribe that country so it's posture remains docile with referance to Israel.

Let's think-tank this comment for a quick sec. While the terms "bribe" and "charity" that you used are fascinating on so many levels, it would not only be politically incorrect to impose the same terms to 'other states' who receive US aid of some sorts since God forbid if the reference to previous aid to Pakistan would ever be uttered or mentioned, it would be unfathomable to consider it as bribery, but especially to consider it charity since that would be an insult of the highest proportions. Point being that in those specific cases, it's absolutely only direct payment for NATO's use of passage to Afghanistan and nothing of strategic importance to US/Pakistani relations and hence, it's strictly a purchase for services rendered and when the reference is to Israel, it's never considered bribery or charity; my goodness how could that ever be since it's strictly "partnership" to keep Israel powerful to defend itself against those evil, barbaric, hostile and unworthy Arabs whom were attacked twice by that same Israel in the past 60 years. It's intrinsic to US/Israeli relations but all that is completely separate to military bribery and charity to Egypt since it has nothing to do with the post-war and peace terms agreed to and signed in the 1979 Camp David Accords. After all, we're talking about the despicable, lowly Egypt.

Hopefully, "sissies" will finally learn that no matter how many El Bannas or Syed Kutubs you hang, or how many Morsis you jail, or how many tunnels to Gaza you blow up it makes little difference!!! Turkey has had her final lessons completed!!! Egypt might complete hers...

I guess it would be ok to call Turkey's president -- and whomever else is implied in the term "sissies" -- erDOGans? I guess that would be on par but even trying to level the playing field of insults makes me uncomfortable.

The other funny part is the "how many Morsis you jail" since I'm pretty sure that the wonderfully democratic Turkey doesn't has the highest number of jailed journalists in the world!

That said, it might be Saudi money paying for these jets.

Just these jets? Or just these additional 12 on top of the first 24? Is it also paying for the LHDs, frigates, corvettes, German submarines, S-300 batteries, 46 Ka-52 helicopters, 50 MiG-35s with AMRAAMS and heavy Russian A2G munitions and the countless Chinese UAVs and UCAVs and so on and so forth? I'm just curious to see where people think the money from Saudiya starts and ends.

Egypt military spokesman when he was asked about this issue he replied and said "it's an internal French issue".

Is it just an internal issue with France and this supposed US component, or is it a message from the US that why would France ever consider selling such a sensitive and deadly weapon to an undeserving and "unstable" state like Egypt? After all, they have to worry about Israel since Egypt is such a threat to Israel and has attacked it.....oh wait, it was the other way around! And twice since 1956, not to mention the other "defensive" wars that Egypt had to fight and the worthless loss of Egyptian lives as a result. But even so, the heck with Egypt anyway, why should it ever need such lethal weapons such as the SCALP? It doesn't deserve to defend itself to the best of its abilities. It's not like it doesn't have a very stable neighbor to the west, or the other to the south or even the one to the east who's border with it is like an open no-man's land set up perfectly for invasion for a 3rd time. Or even that its waters are threatened, territorial and fresh. Nah, can't sell them anything like 300km range cruise missiles, even with nukes just less than 350 km away from the capital.

They will be wasting time with yanks. America will never let any country around Israel have standoff capability, considering how tiny Israel is.

Get the jets, talk to Pakistan, and negotiate for this monster.

If we can make 60s and 70s mirages carry it, it won't be much of issue integrating with Rafale.

What about JF-17 block 3, its status

In Turkey, pro-Israelis are being put into prison or being buried alive, and the Muslims are in power!!! But, the opposite is occurring in Egypt!!! That's the difference...

It will be rolling out soon but PAF needs will be meet first.

In short term, Egypt needs to have right armament for its jets, otherwise it would be a waste of money.

Why getting emotional? you going to deny Saudi connection with Egypt and how Saudi money is pouring in?

You dodged his point and it's well understood why. BTW, Morsi is no yellow journalist, he is the elected President of Egypt who is betrayed by people like you.

Who's getting emotional? I listed the slew of 10s of billions of $ in weaponry that Egypt has bought in the last 4 years to find out if you think all those weapons were also paid for by Saudi Arabia since it seems that whenever Egypt buys anything, it's always Saudi Arabia or Gulf countries paying for them and never Egypt itself. So I'm trying to see if you think any of the other weapons are bought with Egyptian money or are they all paid for by Saudiya. What's emotional about that?

Quite the contrary. I called out the pot calling the kettle black.
Morsi was betrayed by people like me? Good! I'll be happy to betray people like him and that backward organization any time of day and week, just let me know when.

US and Saudi $6 billion aid pledge boosts Egypt's shares

I am not interested in any other weapons but considering 6 billion is huge amount, which if not directly used to buy weapons, can help Egypt to allocate its own resources towards military procurement.

Anyway, without getting side-tracked, I do hope Egpyt get the right armaments for its jets and avoid the debacle that were the non BVR F16s it bought.

If 6 Billion was invested in JF17 , and given to Pakistan , Egypt would have had BVR missile and full package

complete evolution, so would take another 2 years..flight 2019-20
raad is strategic weapon, not cost effective for conventonla payload
glide weapons range 60-100km or rocket based raptor based weapons would be the option

Pretty sure Ra'ad costs less than other ALCM's due to cheaper labor costs in Pakistan.

What about JF-17 block 3, its status
2-3 years away.

2-3 years away.
its not textiles that is purely dependent upon cheap labour
might even cost more due to scale of production being very low
