PARIS: France will bar radical Muslim preachers from entering the country to participate in an Islamic conference next month as part of a crackdown after shootings by an al-Qaida-inspired gunman, president Nicolas Sarkozy said on Monday.

Sarkozy, who has announced plans to punish those viewing Islamist websites and going abroad for indoctrination, said he would block the entry of some imams invited to a congress organized by the Union of French Islamic Organizations (UOIF). The UOIF, one of three Muslim federations in France, is regarded as close to Egypt's Islamist Muslim Brotherhood.

"I have clearly indicated that there certain people who have been invited to this congress who are not welcome on French soil," Sarkozy said.

He cited Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi, an Egyptian cleric based in Qatar who is one of the most prominent Sunni Muslim clerics in the Arab world and a household name in the Middle East.

A former member of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, Qaradawi is independent of the group but remains close to it. Sarkozy said the situation was complicated because the imam holds a diplomatic passport and does not require a visa to enter France.

"I indicated to the Emir of Qatar himself that this person was not welcome on the territory of the French republic," Sarkozy said. "He will not come."

true to an extent, but these European countries need to get a grip on the wahabi invasion into their nations. There is nothing more "zede hall" (buzz kill) than going to a Euro country and seeing a bunch of burka wearing women walking around in their tents (you can't even see their eyes).

And that's only the smallest problem. The social fabric of these European countries is breaking thanks to mass immigration. Canada does immigration correctly. I've never seen an immigrant in this country that doesn't deserve to be here. Immigrants in Canada, wherever they're from, are pulling their weight and they also try to assimilate. In Europe this doesn't seem to be the case. The African and Arab immigrants in France, who are both radical to the core and have no skills whatsoever, are perfect examples.

More countries should follow the lead of France here, these Mullahs and preachers are nothing but hateful and evil, Muslims come to France, Australia or other Western countries and want to shove their hate and religious crap down our throats, sorry but if these people want to do that they should stay in their own crappy countries and kill each other.

When you accept refugees and uneducated immigrants, you will end up with the rotten apples. Come to North Shore in Vancouver (Beverly Hills of Canada) and you won't see a single woman wearing a head scarf, let alone a burka, while there are countless Middle Easterners here. You can't accept a bunch of Arabs without degrees, skills or money and than expect them to assimilate into the culture or find a career that keeps them going.

Very well said. Europe definitely picks the extremist type Muslims for some reason. The number of Burkhas I have seen in London surprised me, its like they are going back in time, and Europe's culture is being destroyed.
