Four Ways Pakistan Can Shoot Drones

Pakistan could shoot down several US drones, with little consequences. US is fully tied up, budget restrictions, troop reduction in AFG, no heart nor money for a war with Pakistan. Pakistan in spite of minor security trouble and economic constraints still maintains a formidable military and a formidable and promising nuclear deterrent.

US Congress is busy deciding on debt ceiling, they would never approve of a war with Pakistan. At most they would pass sanctions.

Any one suggesting US would engage in an armed conflict with Pakistan over a situation where Pakistan would shoot down US drones in it's territory is mentally unfit to be here on this forum and is out of touch with geopolitical probabilities. Even EU would advise US not to engage with Pakistan. Not to mention China's famous warning to US and the World any military attack on Pakistan would be perceived as an attack on Beijing, such words don't come lightly out of the Red Office in Beijing.

Besides shamsi air base has been closed it appears drone operations have ceased and have been terminated by Government of Pakistan. After ordering US to leave the base...

There is another path which is far more potent than anything suggested above....Improve your economy and move towards self-sufficiency....Once you have an independent foreign policy all these drones will die on their own....Till that day comes i am afraid all this is wishful thinking...

ooh man, cant come out with dumber post than this, its by far the worst and nonsense post ever made!!!

Drone operations will likely continue until no longer needed for achieving goals.

If there is a will, there is a way..... Just that from the Pakistan side, there is no will to stop them... uncle sam say dartay hain

what the use of this thread? all i see is talk here on this forum . how to do this how to do that . no one seems to do any thing .

just work to make Pakistan a strong nation with a good economy and zero tolerance for terrorism . you will see the world in a different light . and so will the world!!

that is the biggest load of crock i ever heard . :disagree:
after all you guys are supposed to know the backstabbing US sooo well , you really think nothing will happen?

also you want to replace the US with china? man all i can say is good luck

Another drone attack that killed "supposedly 5 militants" but we'll never know... and our people dont have the balls to stand on their own feet

Change the government, and you will see a difference for the good. Pakistani people really have to demonstrate against the government.

S. Waziristan drone strike kills four suspected militants | Pakistan | DAWN.COM

PESHAWAR: A US drone strike targeting a militant vehicle in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal belt near the Afghan border killed at least four suspected militants on Monday, local security officials said.

Two missiles fired by the drone hit the vehicle in Azam Warsak, 15 kilometres west of Wana, the main town of the South Waziristan region, where Pakistan’s military has been fighting militants for two years.

“At least four militants were killed in the strike,” a local security official told AFP.

The latest US drone attack was the first since July 12, when missiles hit a compound and a vehicle in the North Waziristan tribal region, killing at least six militants.

Another security official in the area confirmed Monday’s strike and casualties, but said the identities of those killed were not immediately known.

The first possible way of destroying the drone as it violates Pakistan’s airspace is to target the Ground Control Station from where it receives necessary guidance. The Ground Control Station is normally located just across the airfield from where the drone operates. Targeting the Ground Control Station will cause the drone to crash as it fails to receive any signal from the ground controller. Ground Control Station can be targeted by any Surface-to-Surface missile i.e. Hatf, Ghauri and Shaheen. It is also possible to destroy the drones on ground before they take off using any of the above mentioned missiles.
Targeting NATO forces inside Afghanistan will be suicide mission. It will broke all out war between NATO and Pakistan. NATO is more than capable of engaging Hatf, Ghauri and Shaheen.

The second option involves killing the drone without air encounter or even firing anything towards the drone. Drones receive communication signals from their Ground Control Stations through a satellite based datalink. It is possible to jam or intercept the communication link between the drone and the Ground Control Station. Pakistan has an option to choose the most suitable Electronic Warfare suite from its inventory to intercept the guidance signal and get the drone down unguided. This is the most viable option as Pakistan would not like to lose any precious aircraft or a missile in its inventory for a drone.

That is one impossible idea. NATO countries specially US has the best electronic warfare in the world.

The third available option is to fire a Surface-to-Air missile towards a drone violating our territorial integrity. Pakistan has a wide range of Surface-to-Air missiles which can easily target American drones within their effective range. One such air defense system is SPADA 2000 which can detect and engage highly agile hostile aircrafts and missiles at almost all altitudes. I strongly believe that American Predators can never get away from Surface-to-Air missiles fired from SPADA 2000 system.

SPADA is capable if it find drones inside its range. Again Predators are stealthy and it is made by a NATO country could be easily jammed. Italy has 4000 soldiers in Afghanistan.

No country can dare to attack them

The last option is to scramble air defense alert F-16 interceptors to engage approaching drones. Drones are not very agile and do not carry any weapons for self defense. Hence they can be very easily gunned down by F-16s. In my opinion, flying an F-16 to kill a drone is not a very wise and cost effective solution.

It is another option but US will not let it go.

The best option is ground based anti aircraft guns if the drones come near the ground it can take target the drone.

Hey Indian fanboy wetting his pants thinking about unreal prospects, the Pakistan Air Force has already shot down a US spy plane in 2002 near its nuclear facilities in Kasur.

Then what is stopping your invincible and oh-so-fantabulous PAF from shooting them down now? Don't tell me Zardari or Gilani because they are as much leaders of your country as much as MMS is of ours (Maino madam has the remote control). Kayani holds the reins and knows what would be the consequences of shooting down a US drone.

One embassy worker caught caused so much diplomatic havoc in US-Pak ties and you're talking about shooting down a US military asset? Yeah right...:toast_sign:
