Four killed as police fire on blasphemy protesters in Bangladesh

I have said it before and I will repeat it again. The matter of derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the most sensitive issue of all. The death of all the blasphemers throughout history is a lesson to all human beings. Just don't indulge in such activity. I repeat just don't do it otherwise suffer the consequences because almost all those who made the mistake of doing so had to pay for it one way or the other.
Tbh I wonder does/did prophet care at all? I mean people stoned him to pulp, cursed him, yet it didn’t bother him... even after he had good number of followers... that woman would set booby traps on his path and yet he went to see her when she got sick... tbh, this culture of avenging insults to prophet started after his death... imo if he was patient enough to leave it to allah, we should be too

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the most precious to Allah among all the creation. Sure Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was the embodiment of forgiveness, kindness, and peace. He endured the insults and cruelty against him and forgave because that was the quality bestowed to him but that doesn't mean those insults were acceptable to his creator. Allah may forgive any transgressions against himself because that is between him and that transgressor but any insults against his beloved are off-limits.

Dear bangali bros and sis ,please stop this action against such kind of protest , this will back fire very badly ……
This protest wasn't about any Religious political party or for any political purpose , It was about "The Most Sensitive Matter" for any Muslim ….. Please stop killing them , your Govt digging grave for your society …..

Some 20,000 Muslims demonstrated at a prayer ground in Borhanuddin town on the country’s largest island of Bhola to call for the execution of the young Hindu man, who was arrested Saturday over charges of inciting religious tension.
Police said they opened fire in self-defence after some of the crowd threw rocks at their officers.

“At least four people were killed and up to 50 people were injured,” police inspector Salahuddin Mia told AFP.

Police took appropriate action. Commended.

The guy who made the derogatory comments must be tried as per law.

Never ignore physical bullies. But verbal bullies can safely be ignored, and should be. Verbal bullies can't stand being ignored. If they then turn into physical bullies, then I totally agree. Beat them into pulps in any manner available to you.
People with less confidence are prone to show angry reactions to criticisms. No one in other religious societies would react violently for criticizing their religions but Muslims do. Muslims react but again insult other religions and their followers. They vandalize the symbols of other religions, such as Churches or Temples.

It is a case of a double standard.

People with less confidence are prone to show angry reactions to tiny criticisms. No one in other religious societies would react violently for criticizing their religions but Muslims do. It is a case of a double standard.

it’s an unsophisticated response for sure.

Violence is not the answer obviously.

On a religious basis look to the sunnah and see what the proper response is.

this reaction is in spite of religion not because of it.

A Facebook account was hacked to spread religious slur that ignited violence leaving four people dead and over 100 others injured in Bhola’s Borhanuddin Upazila on Sunday, police say.

At the heart of the trouble is Biplob Chandra Shuvo whose account was used by a hacker to spread profanity-laced comments, according to Superintendent of Police Sarker Mohammad Kaiser.

Shuvo went to Borhanuddin Police Station on Friday night to file a general diary after he discovered that his Facebook account was breached. The man is still in police custody for security reasons.

The hacker accessed Shuvo’s Facebook Messenger and published a screenshot of slanderous comments on social media. That sparked a firestorm of protests online and offline.

Police arrested two people with alleged links to the hacking and informed the public about the development on Saturday night after demonstrations were held in the morning.

The law enforcers found conversations on Shuvo’s Messenger account in which the hacker provided a mobile phone number and demanded Tk 500 to return the account.

But the angry locals arranged a rally again on Sunday morning and attacked police when it was wrapped up early, ensuing the clashes.

Bangladesh had experienced attacks on religious minorities on allegation of insulting religion on Facebook earlier.

Fourteen temples were ransacked and more than a hundred Hindu houses looted and vandalised in Nasirnagar Upazila of Brahmanbarhia in 2016 over an alleged Facebook post insulting Islam.

Investigation revealed later that the man accused of uploading the post was actually innocent.

The next year, one person was killed and several others injured as police opened fire on locals who torched a number of Hindu homes in Rangpur in protest against an allegedly blasphemous Facebook post.

A group of radical Islamists carried out arson attacks and looted at dozens of Buddhist temples homes at Ramu in Cox’s Bazar in a similar incident in 2012.

Please tell me what Western country where nobody can ridicule Jesus or Army? I live in a Western country and never heard such a thing.

Try this as an immigrant in USA, Canada, UK, Ireland. And continue to do so for years, come day this again. The natives can discuss their issues and ridicule these issues time to time but the outsiders arent entertained in that scale. Same in BD, Muslim background people are tolerated to a scale but not the Hindus.

DHAKA: At least four people were killed and nearly 50 injured on Sunday after police fired on thousands of Bangladeshi Muslims protesting a Facebook post by a Hindu who allegedly defamed Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), officials said.

Mob attacks over Facebook posts perceived to be blasphemous have emerged as a major headache for security forces in Bangladesh, where Muslims make up some 90 per cent of the country’s 168 million people.

He said extra police and border guards were being deployed in the town.

The death toll is expected to rise, with Bhola Sadar Hospital duty doctor Tayebur Rahman telling AFP at least seven of the 43 people taken to hospital were fighting for their lives.

“We have sent the critically injured people to the regional hospital in Barisal (city). Their conditions are not stable,” he said.

In 2016, angry Muslims attacked Hindu temples in an eastern town over a Facebook post was put up allegedly mocking one of Islam’s holiest sites.

In 2012, Muslim mobs torched Buddhist monasteries, houses and shops in the coastal Cox’s Bazar district following a Buddhist youth’s alleged defamatory photo post of the Holy Quran.

Bangladesh has also experienced a number of attacks on people from religious minorities, secular bloggers, publishers, writers and foreigners, many claimed by militants.

Huh, so it was hacked account and 4+ people died for nothing. That's actually kind of funny and sad at the time.
