Four Fidayeen planning major attack killed in Sunderbani gunfight: Jammu and Kashmir Police
The gunfight began today morning in Ravarian Talla village, around one kilometre from Sunderbani township, after militants opened fire on a search party of the forces.
Government forces on Wednesday killed four militants who they said had recently infiltrated from across the Line of Control in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, a police spokesman said that forces "eliminated a group of four fidayeen militants in Sunderbani area in a well coordinated day long operation."
"Search operation in the villages of Sunderbani was going on since last two days after some specific inputs and last night, a strong input was developed after which a joint column of police, army and BSF launched an operation in the area Rawariya Talla near a security establishment," he said.
“Today morning, militants hiding in bushes fired on search party after which whole area was cordoned by police, army and BSF while additional reinforcement was also rushed to the spot and fierce gunfight started."
The spokesman said that in the "day-long operation", four militants whose identity is yet to be ascertained were killed.
"They seem like foreigners but exact details can be shared later only," he said, adding that the "fidayeen militants" were carrying a huge amount of arms and ammunition including explosives.
He said the slain militants were attempting to carry out a "major militant attack somewhere which has been foiled successfully."
"Huge amount of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot while their bodies have also been recovered."
DGP SP Vaid said that the slain militants had recently infiltrated from across the Line of Control.
