Former IoK chief ministers Mufti, Abdullah placed under house arrest; curfew imposed

Look at it this way! we never had a great economy. We have never been rich and we have nothing to lose, everything to gain.
In addition, there is a fundamental difference between the two nation's ideologies. We know for a fact that the life after is better than this one, Hindus only have their Aatma reincarnated into this world.
Why all this nonsense talk man? Wait for a couple of days and we will get to know what india can do and what pak can do...

Two cases of child rape have triggered the biggest displays of public anger over sexual violence in India since the 2012 gang rape and murder of a young woman in Delhi.

The protests over the past week have been directed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been accused of protecting the rapists from justice, and Hindu nationalist groups allied to the BJP.

The details of the two rapes emerged only over the past week. In Kashmir in January, an eight-year-old Muslim girl was raped and murdered in a small village temple over the course of three days. Eight Hindu men, including a former bureaucrat and four police officers, have been charged with crimes ranging from rape and murder to complicity in covering up the incident.

On Monday, as police tried to file charges against the men in the town of Kathua, local lawyers shouted Hindu nationalist slogans and tried to block investigators from entering the courthouse. BJP ministers in Jammu and Kashmir state’s coalition government attended rallies in support of the accused that were organised by the Hindu Ekta Manch, a nationalist group."

Hope that remains etched on your highly literate brain. Literacy in Hindustan breeds fascism, nothing less. I am willing to bet my house that the witchcraft accusers and child sacrificers are also highly literate. Your country is the problem, not your literacy rate.

India will sit back and take it like a scared little coward that it is, just like it did on February 27, 2019.

Not a single Indian anywhere in India had the courage or guts to even think of doing anything when Pakistan bombed the day lights out of the Indian military in the broad day light. Even the Indians I know here in Canada were and still are walking around with their heads down.

You have sorted everything out, haven't you? Kashmir to northeast to dalits to sikhs!!!!

Good for you, only happy days from here on.

Funny, you escaped from committing to a timeframe. :-)

Just wait till the USA leaves Afghanistan. You will get all your answers.

"I believe I’m being placed under house arrest from midnight tonight and the process has already started for other mainstream leaders. No way of knowing if this is true but if it is then I’ll see all of you on the other side of whatever is in store. Allah save us," he wrote on Twitt
It's official, this scoundrel is locked in his own home now.
How ironic that elected representatives like us who fought for peace are under house arrest.
Fought for personal gains, not Kashmir.
Time for Pakistan to do an all out publicity blitz.
We need to remind the world that India is behaving just like 1930s Nazi Germany.
Why world? Why not you? Why hell running to UNSC for help for past 1 year over & over?

You are nuke power, Pakistani fanboys on PDF are boastful of it, claim that India lost all wars except 1971, Pakistan is stronger than India.
Why just not us & you? You guys shout a lot to troll Indians. But your government always has to reach for external help against India. Stop playing victims.
And these are the pro-Delhi Kashmiri leaders.
They are in no way pro India. Ever heard of their speeches in their valley. They are just opportunist politicians who choose to take advantage of Kashmir's autonomous status and rule it. Complete integration with Indian Union threatens their political monopoly.
India is going into Nazi Germany mode. We all know what happened to Nazi Germany.
India is by mile far from being any fascist state. India is a liberal democracy with left wing constitution and ruled by a right wing party at the moment. It's federal democracy ran successfully without hiccup for 7 decades and will last even for next 100 years.

India isn't carrying out some genocide and shooting people out of home. It's only defending its land and restricting revolt by as moderate measures it can.

Kashmir was all peaceful till 80s. The upsurge there isn't indigenous but foreign sponsored terrorism. There is no "cause" or nationalist moment in Kashmir. It's an Islamic upsurge and same powers are behind it which created ISIL, Taliban and even Pakistan itself. Muslims behave like this when they come in majority in any region in any part of world. India isn't an exception.
Inshallah one day world powers will invade India and split it into multiple smaller inconsequential countries while taking away its nukes and military hardware.
1. If you actually study about gap between firepowers and assests of those so called "world powers", they will bleed a lot together outgun India alone in Indian Ocean Region. Invading India for any foreign is impossible. That's why Pakistan was created to inflict proxy wars on India and keep it contained.
Similar security structure was to park China vs Japan and EU vs Russia so that USA can maintain its dominance. If India is weaker than NATO, Russia & China, it can't be challenged militarily by any other power on planet either. Pakistan is just their proxy against India and cuts India's access to middle east and central Asia.

Fall of USSR + economic decline of Japan with rise of China, dissentions within European Union, collapse of real Pakistan (in 1971) and India's rise since 90s has screwed their "security structure". 2008 great recession has permanently paralysed their looting machine against poor countries and emerging economies are advancing now.
That's why so much drama of "mediation".
2. World powers (including China) simply don't need to. They don't need to cost their relations with India to appease a failed state that doesn't have or any potential to make any difference world. India matters, Pakistan doesn't.
3. Kashmir issue is too small, doesn't make any difference. No matter what how much you hype, it's a pure territorial dispute changed into religious war by Pakistan with proxies. If India vacates Kashmir, there will be a hell like middle east.

Learning well from the Israeli advisors in India... Learning WELL!
So long as you can buy or threaten a few hundred Congressman of a Superpower.. you can get Away with murder..
Anyway however much Pakistani influence is played up inside India. The fact is that Modi has arrested Ms Mufti who was his coalition govt partner in Kashmir barely few years ago... Pakistan simply can't be blamed for this!!

Kashmir is not Palestine nor is it cut off. More importantly, it is not an issue without support in multiple countries beyond muslim majority ones.

Indian state IQ and morality has rock bottom with these actions.

Talk about taking defeat from the jaws of victory.

Looks like Kashmir

For international community, kashmit is more of isolated and noone cares about it apart from lip service. I would say palestine is more serious and world care and taken sides on the issue.

I would say opposite. Palestine is what countries have take sides and they cared about it. Kashmir is something no one care apart from lip service. Look at current situation. Entire world just ignore the Kashmir at the time when it is hottest in modern history. That is something India enjoy, they can do whatever they likes as no one cares apart from Pakistan.

I think these house arrests are part of the ploy for what is about to happen. It's been discussed with these leaders and the house arrests are a way to show that these leaders were not able to do anything to oppose whatever Delhi was doing because of the house arrests. To save their face in front of the Kashmiris. They and to some extent PMIK is also in collusion (judging by the lukewarm response from GOP & their Military) with Delhi to try find a different approach to solve the Kashmir dilemma. Classic good cop bad cop!!

Don't agree with the house arrest, a very stupid decision, but yes, about time the state was divided into 3 parts. Buddhist dominated Ladakh and Hindu dominated Jammu very different from the kashmir valley. Time for development to come to these regions and people from other parts of India freely settling down there. Lot of industries avoid the whole state of J&K thinking that insurgency is spread all over, while the fact is that is only spread in a few districts Srinagar, Pulwama, Baramulla, Anantang and a few more. Kashmiris can do their rioting and stone pelting forever, shouldn't stop the rest of the areas from getting their share of development. In any case Pak occupied kashmir's demographics have already been greatly altered with millions of punjabis settling there, no reason for us to keep our side of the bargain.

Ab hoga nyay BC. If Congress votes against amendment, even AIDS patients won't touch them in 2024.

They know it very well, so they are running around to adjourn Lok & Rajya Sabha so that they can escape voting. Speaker played well issuing zero delay submission.

Kashmir issue will be solved today and 1.5 million Indian soldiers being wasted there will do wonders around world.

Former IoK chief ministers Mufti, Abdullah placed under house arrest; curfew-like restrictions imposed
Dawn.com Updated August 05, 2019

Former chief ministers of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were placed under house arrest late Sunday night as the Indian government also imposed curfew-like restrictions.

“As per the order there shall be no movement of public and all educational institutions shall also remain closed,” the Indian government ordered, in a statement obtained by AFP.

Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to say that he was being placed under house arrest and that a similar process had already started for other leaders.

"I believe I’m being placed under house arrest from midnight tonight and the process has already started for other mainstream leaders. No way of knowing if this is true but if it is then I’ll see all of you on the other side of whatever is in store. Allah save us," he wrote on Twitt

"Please don’t take the law in to your own hands, please stay calm," he appealed in another tweet.

A few moments before his tweet, Mehbooba Mufti, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party, expressed concerns that there would soon be an internet blackout and the imposition of a curfew.

"Hearing reports about internet being snapped soon including cellular coverage. Curfew passes being issued too. God knows what awaits us tomorrow. It’s going to be a long night," she said.

"How ironic that elected representatives like us who fought for peace are under house arrest. The world watches as people and their voices are being muzzled in J&K. The same Kashmir that chose a secular democratic India is facing oppression of unimaginable magnitude. Wake up India," she said in another tweet.

The two leaders, earlier in the day, had warned the Centre against abrogation of Article 35A and Article 370, which gives special status to Kashmiris.

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, reading out a resolution adopted at a meeting of regional parties, said they have decided to send delegations to meet the president, the prime minister and leaders of various political parties to apprise them about the consequences of any attempt to abrogate Article 370 and Article 35A of the constitution or carry out delimitation of constituencies or trifurcating the state, reported India Today.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India has consistently advocated an end to occupied Kashmir’s special constitutional status, which prevents outsiders from buying property there, arguing that such laws have hindered its 'integration' with the rest of India.

'Stop the madness'
Meanwhile, a member of the Indian parliament, Shashi Tharoor, in a show of solidarity with Kashmiris, responded to Abdullah's tweet by saying: "You are not alone. Every Indian democrat will stand with the decent mainstream leaders in Kashmir as you face up to whatever the government has in store for our country. Parliament is still in session and our voices will not be stilled."

Indian journalist Barkha Dutt called the move to place the leaders "unnecessary".

"No matter what the decision in Jammu and Kashmir one simply cannot support placing elected representatives under house arrest. Place 144, bar rallies and meetings for law and order, but why not take them into confidence," she said on Twitter.

Kashmiri journalist Gulam Jeelani appealed to "Delhi", saying "if you have any sense of morality, please stop this madness in Kashmir".

Security alert
Earlier in the day, The Hindu reported that additional security troops had been placed in civilian installations and police stations and were put on “standby mode.”

The Indian publication said that a red alert had been sounded for officials in Kargil of the Ladakh region, an otherwise peaceful area.

"A security alert was already sounded across J&K, including Jammu region’s Pir Panjal and Chenab valleys," reported The Hindu.

Furthermore, government employees' leaves were cancelled along with scheduled examinations, according to an official.

Medical facilities were also put on an emergency mode, a senior official wishing to remain anonymous said. "Dozens of mobile bulletproof bunkers were installed across the Valley," the report by The Hindu added.

The Indian government has admitted that 10,000 extra troops were sent to IoK a week ago. Media reports on Friday said a further 25,000 had been ordered there.

Kashmir politicians had long raised fears that the troops are sign that the Hindu nationalist government could carry out a threat to scrap occupied Kashmir's special status under the constitution.

My message to Kashmiris is don’t panic
- no one is asking you to leave the valley on loudspeakers
- no one is asking you to leave behind your women
- no one is asking you to convert or get ready to die
- no terrorist is knocking your door to kill As you did to us in 1990
