What's new

For those of you who hate HALAL MEAT :)

Actually he needs to recite the Kalima/Dua/Prayer (and if you know the meaning of dua it somewhat suggests that the person is Muslim).

You may follow the same procedure but if you don't recite the Kalima/Dua/Prayer - The meat is not halal. If you do recite the Kalima it is.. But I am doubtful if the non-Muslims would recite it and if they do, if they are reading it or believing what they are saying since religion is all about belief
Saying ALLAH HU AKHBAR is enough as in the Quran all it says do not eat on which any other name than that of allah has been invoked...So basically saying ALLAH HU AKHBAR or in the name of the God of Ibrahim...is good enough ...

Halal and Haram Foods in Quran

What about automatic slaughter houses? Machines cut them, not humans.

@scrumpy - No intention to be rude, but no use debating with Tal on this.
Halal method used:

Where the animal who fits the rules (Clean, healthy animal) is taken to slaughter (no pain = quick, painless 1 stroke slicing the trachea + jugular artery + spinal cord are cut all the way).

God's name is invoked

You get conflicting response from the scholars

While most agrees that we should do it manually (one-by-one) some people do it using Machines when the read the kalima while pressing button (lol). I have heard it somewhere... For me it's one-by-one the right procedure to follow, do it carefully and not inhumane

.
For every animal cut in the machine, who invokes God's name?
 that is why some people object using machine...

BTW, Jews dont do their koshar by machine...their laws require a "trained" guy do the slaughtering!

But If I say many of us dont believe in the machine cut chickens either we will be labelled extremists and what not...but no one looks at Jews koshar! This is also why some people dont mind buying Koashr it is guaranteed to be individually slaughtered by a "trained" butcher :p:

I personally dont agree with machine because you cant make sure if the blade is sharp enough or if it was done properly after say 20 chickens...

Plus why do it with machines? wouldnt it be too expensive to clean that thing...blood has bacteria/ virus so if 1 chicken is sick or has some virus, some 50 chickens slaughtered by the same commercial blade will be infected with the snap of a finger?! :what: Just my personal 2 cents but if it says halal I buy it and believe the people who put the seal to be responsible for giving their seal guarantee!

Not sure why people recommend machines to slaughter animals, in Hajj in example when completed they have animal slaughterhouses and all is done manually one-by-one for 1000000 or million Hajjis in 3 days deadline. So it depends on how many people you hire to do the job professionally. Personally Islamic countries should invest alot of money in west to established certified animal slaughterhouses to fullfill needs of many thousand muslims.

Unlike negative people the TV presenter took the good in Halal (clean, free of bacteria, checked if sick and all) whats wrong in making sure you have a healthy and clean meat?
He seems to suggest that if you are not eating halaal meat, you are eating diseased meat which is incorrect. Food safety laws exist to prevent this sort of stuff.

The same many people like you dont do their homework and read 1 liners from "scientists" paid to prove a point!
You yourself rely on a 7th century text and do not accept any other viewpoints. Why should I believe you over an organisation like the RSPCA?
Religious slaughter - Slaughter - Farm animals

Electric shock is in no way humane...good to know you like free range chicken...
Strange because pre-stunning is not really ethical...why kill a chicken in its sleep :cray:

The electric shock is used to stun the chicken to render it insensitive to pain and panic caused by a knife slitting the neck.

Maybe I should take your advice on this matter.

Yes true...But it is also true that Muslims are stricter to maintain clean meat as it has to do with their faith and hence are adhere more strongly to it as compared to cooperates which just well deal in masses!

7th century talked about cleanliness while West was dying of plague and other unhygienic stuff :coffee:

Never asked you to believe me but would appreciate if people did their homework otherwise they sound like Pam! :coffee:

A study was conducted to compare the effect of halal slaughter without stunning and gas stun killing followed by bleeding on residual blood content and storage stability of rabbit meat. Eighty male New Zealand white rabbits were divided into two groups of 40 animals each and subjected to either halal slaughter without stunning (HS) or gas stun-kill (GK). The volume of blood lost during exsanguination was measured. Residual blood was further quantified by determination of haemoglobin content in Longissimus lumborum (LL) muscle. Storage stability of the meat was evaluated by microbiological analysis and measuring lipid oxidation in terms of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). HS resulted in significantly higher blood loss than GK. HS had significantly lower residual haemoglobin in LL muscle compared to GK. Slaughter method had no effect on rabbit meat lipid oxidation at 0, 1, and 3 d postmortem. However, at 5 and 8 days of storage at 4°C, significant differences (p<0.05) were found, with meat from the GK group exhibiting significantly higher levels of MDA than that from HS. At day 3, greater growth of Pseudomonas aeroginosa and E. coli were observed in the GK group (p<0.05) with B. thermosphacta and total aerobic counts remained unaffected by slaughter method. At days 5 and 7 postmortem, bacterial counts for all tested microbes were affected by slaughter method, with GK exhibiting significantly higher growth than HS. It can be concluded that slaughter method can affect keeping quality of rabbit meat, and HS may be a favourable option compared to GK due to high bleed out.

However now they have different stun guns and tests are reported below:

And finally:

Oh you 'Pseudo Humanitarian' eat what animals eat. In a vegetarian world the animals will starve to death because 'pseudo humanitarians' like you are eating away all of their food.

Erm...you do realize that in order to raise animals for the purpose of slaughter, you would need to feed them? After all, cows don't fatten themselves on air and rainbows, right? So when you down a steak, you are in effect consuming all the resources that took to bring that t-bone on your plate. The ecological footprint caused by a meat eater far exceeds the one caused by a vegan/vegetarian diet.

Don't get me wrong. I eat meat as well. However, I don't delude myself with lofty juvenile constructs into thinking that it is the right choice.

Human beings are 'designed' to consume meat, otherwise we won't have a full upper jaw nor a digestive system and acids that allow the meat fabrics to be processed and turn into nutrition. If it wasn't true we would be like cows. Try feeding beef burgers to a goat and see if they eat it or are able to process it. So if evolution is allowing us to have a meat diet, who the F are you to tell us otherwise?

Do we come and tell you what sort of cabbage you can eat and what sort of parsley you cant? - then please shut up - 'eat and let eat'!
dont give excuse ok? try to to understand the pain that an animal feels when being slaughtered, u will understand when u will receive same kind of treatment, god has made us human and we are supposed to be humane, there is difference between humans and animals

found a good video about meat eaters

You keep being a vegetarian while I enjoy this

First of all, I don't kill animals, my butcher does that. Second, the reason why I eat meat is because it's delicious, trust me, I've done the whole vegetarian thing for a few years, didn't work out that well. Third, meat doesn't kill, that's like saying my can of Pepsi is possessed by the devil and is on a murderous killing spree.
