....LOOKS sooo good!!!!
That's not standard preparation, look closely that's basmati rice . who prepares it for regular meals? And armed forces should not serve naan as it is prepared from maida .

Add to that they have added colors to the chicken. Hardly any vegetables. So unhealthy.:hitwall::hitwall:

Food in the JMSDF:

1) We call this one the Tower of England , lol

2) This one is chicken gizzards marinated in flour and bread crumbs, and cooked in lard. Served with Japanese white rice. Rich , rich , rich in protein, lol.

3) Chicken Tikka Masala w/ Nan. Japanese style, lol.

Like any other armed force of the world is supposed to do so they take the saying "An army marches on its stomach" seriously. :)

Navy, as always having the best food in all service, the reason behind this is "rumoured" because if they don't provide good food to the sailor, the sailor will demand to satisfy their secondary need - SEX. And in a ship, well, there are no place to go so it will become a rape central lol...At least this is what I heard.

I was struggling when I enlisted, choose between adventure or food, but I choose Army in the end, and I sticked by it.

Here are some food the USN have. Compare to our editable plastic in the Army...

LOL! Hahaha, I can vouche that there is some 'truth' to this. Tho, to be honest, satisfaction in food never seemed to put a damper on some of our basilar needs.:devil:

Tour de Asia...

How about this......

. . .
LOL! My first month at sea as an Ensign, I was hurling at least every two hours for the first week. Hated it. I thought to myself, "Oh man, what have i gotten myself into." After the 2nd week, as I was hurling by port side, the Chief Warrant Officer said to me, "Subekobi iwanai de!". Kinda means "Better stop this".

After third week i got used to it already. And for those who haven't sailed the high seas, they really need to know that it takes time to get used to it. I served in the JS Chokai --- so they had us from Yokusuka to Guam for random port visit. After Guam, we went all the way to Kiribati, then refueled at Pearl Harbor. The travel back from Pearl Harbor to Yokusuka was intense man. Waves as high as 60, 70 feet. Imagine traveling through this for days.

We arrived in Yokusuka , on Sacred Japanese Soil. You have no idea how happy we were , specially for us new ensigns, to just step on solid soil.

My first month was the time that made me, really prepared me for my years in service. The Navy molds you, and its not for the faint of heart, or for those who can't work in closed in spaces for months at a time.

nah man, they are for some kind of culinary competition...

I was about to say, LOL! Men like us, specially military men....we can't do no protein. I can eat a whole rotisserie chicken to myself. So I don't do 'small' pieces, LOL.

That's MRE menu 15 or 16, I forgot...

Thanks buddy, reminds me of the time we docked by Taipei, we got to interact with Taiwanese Navy folks and they shared with us some of their 'Type A' Rations. LOL!

Taiwanese boys....they love to laugh...and they are also very serious about their work. Really appreciated them and being able to interact with some of our Taiwanese colleagues gave many us a new respect for Taiwanese military men. First exposure always sets precedent i guess.

Anyways...here's some of the Taiwanese Type A rations...

It tastes better than it looks...LOL!

meh, being in the army, especially ranger, you are used to eating crap for all the meals. Again, if food is really means that much to me, I would have join the Navy :)

But well, it has been improving all the time, When I was in Iraq in 2003, there are not much you can choose from the PX, a few stall that serve hot food and that's it, taste like crap and it look disgusting

But When I was deployed to Afghanistan 2 years later, they have like an international food court in Kabul and Bagram, tho still not really of good quality, but I would eat them instead of MRE anyday
