KARACHI: Fly Dubai, a low cost airline of UAE, has submitted a request for approval of operations to and from Skardu. According to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), Fly Dubai has become the first International Airline in this regard by submitting a request for approval of operations to/ from Skardu.

The airline intends to start flight operations to Skardu subject to necessary approval of PCAA and Dubai Civil Aviation. Meanwhile, DG PCAA and his team made untiring efforts for up gradation of Skardu Airport during a short time. The DG was of the view that the start of international operations to Skardu will be a game changer for promotion of tourism in the country.

Imagine direct flights from Dubai to Skardu, will certainly boost tourism.

I don't think these UAE A-Holes should be allowed to enter Skardu for the time being due to them supporting indian terrorism in Kashmir. Only Chinese and Pakistan airlines should be allowed.

Because that's literally the definition of "International Airport"

Govt has upgraded Skardu Airport to International standards, so foreign airlines can land directly from their foreign hubs,like Karachi, Islamabad.

And they are not giving it to FlyDubai only. Any Airline that intends to start direct flights to and from Skardu, can apply. That include local as well as foreign carriers.

Maybe constructing another international Airport in Gilgit or near Gakhuch would be a good idea. It would help the inflow of international tourists and at times of emergencies supplement skardu Airport

That’s the best news for tourism in Pakistan. Nobody wants to go on a holiday when it takes you several days to reach the holiday destination… we needed international routes for Skardu and it is good to see finally it’s getting attention. I wish Emirates and Etihaad start operation to Skardu as they can potentially bring countless tourists to Skardu… fly Dubai if I am not wrong is the sister company of Emirates so it’s good but Emirates should also consider flying to Skardu

This is a good thing and will encourage and grow the local economy. I dont see the down side - security issues will be addressed and this can be withdrawn if it is misused.
