'Flawed US plan for war with China may spark nuclear strikes'

And what does that have to do with the air-naval blockade of China?

US will fight in the blind vision without relying on their GPS and TDRS satellites, they will fight China in their 1960s warfare tactics, do you think this won't affect the modern US army?

But you know who funding Mitt Romney, the rich (racist) man betting Obama to lose.

Obama is going to lose no matter what, because the rich Jewish lobbyists wanna him lose. :coffee:

That article really doesn't explain what air-sea battle is and gets quite a few things wrong. Here's and article that gives a very basic explanation.

Pentagon's 'Air-Sea Battle' Plan Explained. Finally. | Danger Room | Wired.com

some excerpts:

In fact, ASB isn’t even a doctrine or a strategy. It won’t produce a manual or a battle plan.

So what is it?

From a dozen conversations over the last nine months with defense officials, other reporters and gangs of think tankers here’s the best analogy I can come up with: ASB is a help desk for 21st Century warfare.

The ASB office is staffed with people who understand the capabilities of the Pentagon’s arsenal in intimate and exhaustive detail. Armed with that information, the ASB staff can concoct a solution for field commanders to coordinate against threats, be it against threats in the South China Sea, Strait of Hormuz or any other scenario on the planet.

Here’s an example: During 2011′s Operation Odyssey Dawn — the attack on Libya — ships in the port of Misrata were being fired on by regime loyalist small boat swarms and by a costal patrol craft. Air controllers on the nearby destroyer U.S.S. Barry scrambled the nearest aircrafts with any capability to deal with the threat. Those were a P-3C Orion sub hunter and a tank killing A-10 Thunderbolt II. It’s difficult to pick any two aircraft in the U.S. arsenal less likely to work in tandem. The P-3C is an aircraft that mostly acts as a reconnaissance platform on the open ocean geared toward detecting and killing submarines. It can be fitted with ground attack Maverick missiles, which are almost never used. The A-10 was built as a Soviet tank killer and until Misrata had never been used for fighting on water.

Controlled from the Barry, the pair quickly fought off the threat, likely without the benefit of the tactical data links common in most fighters.

As to the defense relationship between Australia and the USA, well Australia is allowing the US to base there, they are planning a new class of subs in the 4000 ton range, in effect long range subs probably with Japanese technology. The aussies are also building these

notice the ski jump at the front? I'd says the aussies are getting prepared.

If the US view you as an enemy, it doesn't matter who the next president will be, the same warmongering rhetoric stay the same.

GOP is no better than Dem, but having them to screw up the Dem is what we want to see.

Whoever elected will have the same foreign policy toward China: neither good nor bad. That's the way the partisan politic is, any changes in the top might favor China a little bit but unlikely to make a big difference.

I think it's more important on China side as the new president, Xi, come in. Does Xi have a game plan to deal with the US? Which direction China intend to go? If China stay on course in the SCS disputes he'll have to expect a lot of intimated gestures from the US. If Xi can navigate this mutual bantering without any mishaps in his two terms, then China will be in a good position to deal with the US as an equal, at least in this side of Pacific, and the US will back down for sure.

You guys don't seem to understand that a four years Presidency for US will keep its policy inconsistent, this time Obama should be out, next time Romney, no one should ever become a two terms US President is the best interest for us. :coffee:

It is irrelevant that Romney is anti-China, this time we need him to screw up Obama, next time another Dem candidate gonna screw up him.

Professor White, the author of a just-published book

Says it all, time and time again we get the same crap. Some retired military/intelligence/janitor from the pentagon writes a book then states in an interview based on no proof that country xxx is going to atack country yyy

Book sales go up the attack never happens and in a month or two the same thing happens again.

Former Australian prime minister Paul Keating is promoting his book.

The US must share power with China

LOL that's the best case scenario but unfortunately you are not going get what you want.

Actually these China bashing and war rhetoric are going to happen disregard who is or who will be the president. I wonder what will happen when a day comes the US doesn't have a political public enemy number one. What would the politicians talk about on their campaign trials? Who's going to buy newsprint when there are no more sensation war pending headlines?

This is just an American political culture, no need for anyone to make such a big deal out of it. It used to be USSR and now that honor is passed to China. As long as China deals with it prudently nothing will happen. Who knows, somewhere down the future China might be one who's doing the intimidation.

It gonna happen since the weakened US economy gonna make its domestic politics unstable, Obama took a lot of blame for inheriting a messed up economy from his predecessor, and Romney gonna experience the same thing.

So no one gonna be a two term President for now. :coffee:

They are the best bits of democracy. Whoever comes into power usually wipes clean the foundation that was laid down before them. It's a case of going one step forward but two steps back.

The US satellites will be taken out first, we already demonstrated this capability by 2007. :coffee:

BTW, keep trolling, this is your job on this forum.

So are Chinese satellites, we can destroy satellites from ships, heard the Chinese were outrage by it. Anyways there are ways to hit targets without depending on GPS as well as for navigation if you have not noticed.

Wouldn't that happened to China too? We fought wars before GPS was created. We have systems in place that can hit targets without the requirements of GPS. You seem to think that China is 1950s army currently that don't depend on GPS. Am I wrong?

There are two back up systems available to the US, the Japanese GPS system(Which will be US GPS compatible and available to the US) and European Galileo System.

When the US takes out the Beidou, then that's it for China.

Looks like "flawed" here implies bringing in Australia against China, which they seem to not like it that much. Seems you'll need to sort out your ally before venturing further.

They have seemingly corrected the flaw, it is India against China, since Australia is western.
