An army jawan was killed and another injured in an exchange of fire with Pakistani forces late on Friday night.
The incident took place very close to the LoC in the Poonch Rajouri sector near Jammu.
According to defence sources, there was unprovoked firing on Friday night from the Pakistani side which was suspected to be a cover to push in militants and Indian forces retaliated.
The firing continued past the early hours of Saturday and is still on.
But the defence spokesman in Jammu now says this is an exchange of fire between a group of militants and Indian security forces.
