Surprisingly, Pakistan army operate al kalid suppose to be another variant of Type-96, so as Bangladesh and Myanmar army who operate Type-96G...

The most advance version of type 96 will be the VT-1A with state of art control and battle awareness. Remember, it's only export version. Domestic version will be much superior.

Well, there are many variants of the T-72

If this story is true, it is likely that the T-72 was a fairly basic export variant.

Usually, the Russians do not export the very best of their tank variants. For instance, the export customers would not get the best armor technology available to the Russians, they won't get the best Active Protection System technology, and certainly not the best 125 mm rounds. There can be more. Not even India get the best technology from Russia. But the T-72s they operate are not too basic. They do have upgrades, along with foreign components. But still inferior to the T-90.

The Americans also follow a similar practice. And done so for national security reasons.

I do not know about China though.

While I doubt these tanks could go toe-to-toe with an Abrhms or Leopard, they are reasonably priced, advanced enough to make a difference, light enough for poor infrastructure. Should sell plenty in Africa, South Asia and Latin America, where the big boys aren't practical.

Actually the diffferences are minor since Type 96 is actually developed from Type 85III. Most of the modifications were done internally.
