First Chinese satellite avoid space debris control task completed successfully by CASC
November.03 (China Military News reporting by Johnathan Weng) According to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) Web site, at 8:25 on October 3, first Chinese satellite in orbit to avoid space debris control task has been completed successfully by CASC.
China Academy of Space Technology of CASC
According to news reports, the orbit control course is perfect: the orbital altitude of error is less than 4 meters, eccentricity error is less than three hundred thousandths, collision probability dropped to ten to the negative seven. This is the first space debris warning and reaction event in Chinese Space Development Histroy.
CASC says that at 5:00 p.m. on October 1 the monitoring network communications and China stations monitoring station confirmed and informed to focus a waste of space on at 4:30 on October 3, close to Chinas orbit of a satellite in orbit, the shortest distance of about 200 meters, with the high probability of collision.
CASC immediately contacted with the satellite designers Zhu Hongchang and Yu Weimin to promptly start of contingency plans.
According to Satellite TT&C (Tracking, Telemetry and Control) Centers in Xian and Beijing, after the coordination and communication with satellite manufacturer, Controller and user, CASC decided to immediately implement the satellite orbit maneuvering measures, including:
1. within the available scope of TT&C station to confirm satellite state;
2. upload data packet into satellite to rise it from original orbit;
3. satellite jets for several seconds to realize the orbital position adjustment
October 3, TT&C Centers was continue to monitor the satellite status.
AM 4:57 October 3, monitoring data showed that the star status is normal and had been safely crossed alert zone where possibly occured a collision with space debris.
