Bellingcat, which received international attention with its analysis of forged data on satellite images of the downing of the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 during the still ongoing war in eastern Ukraine, in its latest finding stated that there's no compelling evidence that an F-16 was shot down by India over Kashmir.

Authored by Veli-PekkaIt,a Finnish expert on technology, the report concluded that all signs point to downing of Indian Air Force's Soviet era MiG 21 instead of Pakistan's F-16.

Bellingcat analyzed the images Pakistan had shared of the downed Indian Aircraft and found out that they appears to show what it said an exhaust consistent with an R-25 engine found on the MiG-21bis.

Before drawing the conclusion the website examined the pictures from different angles shared by both Pakistan and India.

Indian media and government claimed that wreckage of MiG-21 surrounded by Pakistan army soldiers was actually that of LockHeed's F-16 downed by old Russian old warhorse MiG-21.

Focusing on Indian claims that pictures released by Pakistan actually showed parts of F-16, the Website compared two different images released by Pakistan and determined that they were two different angles of the same aircraft part which turned out to be MiG-21.

The report also referred to CIA's archive of MiG-21 service manual to support its argument and analysis.

We use pratt and Whitney engine not GE
Is this analyst an idiot to ignore such a thing
Pratt and whitney is more reliable and has more range but GE has more power and thrust.
Really don,t know is it our choice to use pratt and whitney engines or the it,s the US restriction.

I don't think there will be any restriction from USA especially when they were giving the F16 so a bit more of thrust does not make a huge difference but PAF opted for P&W because it has better reliability and requires less maintenance.

Also US is anal about giving more advanced tech to other countries specially pakistan.Overall GE is more advanced and up to date. But as you said overall not much difference.

But I don't think in this case, they would interfere since it does not make difference. Avionics/radar is a different matter since that makes a big difference. I'm sure it was PAF's decision 100% to go with more reliable engine.

No amount of evidence can convince indians that F16 wasnt shot down. They all believe an AIM-120c as part of shot down F16 all the way in IOK while the rest of the plane fell in Azad Kashmir.

Thats how stupid indians are

As though Pakistanis will accept it was indeed F16, if tomorrow the same foreign experts or countries conclude or prove it was F16. You people will come up with other theories & explanation it's conspiracy than accepting it.

a MiG-21bis was shot down in Croatia in 1991, and the wreckage of the aircraft is on display shows features which match better to a MiG-21 than an F-16. go on try it on google also

about the engine, we use pratt and whitney for 25 years.

"We are honored by the Pakistani Air Force's decision to continue with Pratt & Whitney as the propulsion for their F-16 Fleet. Building on the legacy of the F100-PW-220 in operation for more than 25 years, we look forward to providing new F100-PW-229 EEP engine to power their latest purchase of F-16s," said Bill Begert, Vice President of Military Business Development and Aftermarket Services for Pratt & Whitney. "We look forward to continuing the long and successful relationship by delivering high quality, dependable engines to our customers in Pakistan."

google it mouth boxers, god dammit its like you guys are immune to facts and logic. or get cancer if you try to find facts and logic.

It boggles my mind how you guys evolve this selective understanding "well whole world is saying its mig but this Finnish expert is on our side this guy is awesome lets root for them "

But please do not forget in modern air warfare aircraft maneuverability is directly related to it,s engine.

@war&peace so you are right it was PAF,s decision.

As I told you.. the reason why PAF would select the same engine (OEM) is because of familiarity, ETF, accumulated knowledge, reliability and less maintenance. Marginal differences in thrust don't make a big difference.
