Fina: China finishes 2015 World Swimming Championships atop medal standings

Actually Aussie swimming had gone down the drain recently.. It's wracked by inept administration and allegations of sexual abuse, sexism and nepotism..

What? The Campbell sisters are really great!

Australians are natural athletes.. So you would get individual brilliance add to that the sporting culture we have here.. But Aussie swimming is not what it used to be, The low point at the London Olympics for the Aussie swimming highlighted some serious issues

India or Vietnam were never significant in Sport, Let alone super powers, India infact may be the worst Athletic nation per capita in the world with 1.3 billion population
They atop in some swimming games in some great river

Now Aussies are up again I think.
Campbell sisters will wow us in Rio!

They're fairly good at Cricket but that's a minority global sport played by less than 10 countries in the world, The problem is it's a huge nation with a gigantic talent pool but a one sport nation.. Even with their obsession with Cricket and every Indian wanting to be a Cricketer and with the richest governing body, They find it difficult to dominate the game.. So that might give one the indications of their Athletic abilities (Not to say there are no individual brilliance, In a country of 1.3 billion people ,It's foolish to say no)

2,798 athletes from 190 countries participated in the 6 aquatics disciplines of 2015 FINA World Championships.
Out of the 190 countries, 28 countries have won medals, congrats! Well 162 countries didn't win any, still good to participate, that's very good sportsmanship!

Out of the 28 countries, 7 got a precious piece of medal, they are Serbia (a gold), Croatia & Lithuania (each got a silver), then Malaysia, Singapore, Argentina, Belarus (each got a bronze). Congrats!

The top ranks are dominated by UNSC P5 + AUS. BRICS also performed quite well (exclude India), China 1st, Russia 3rd, South Africa 11th, Brazil 13th!

Despite topping the rank, China's overall score was just average or even under-performing. The diving team had worst score in a decade by loosing 3 gold, Sun Yang didn't participate in full, Ning Zetao didn't score in 50m FS, weak female swimming team, weak-performance in synchronized swimming (Russia dominates, even US got 1 gold!), non-performance in high diving, open water swimming & polo. China needs to take Kazan lessons seriously and get better prepared for 2016 Rio.

In the history of the world aquatics championship, the last time an Asian country was first in the overall medal table was during the 1994 championships held in Rome,Italy. It was China at the top of the medal table in that edition.

Also, this is the worst performance for the US in terms of gold medal output since the 1994 edition.

China must concentrate on swimming because there is not many more medals China can grab in diving.

Wow, I didn't know the story, but I think at that time China was nowhere to be seen in swimming?

In white-dominated sports, they will create 50 metre, 100 metre, 200 metre, 800 metre, 1500 metre etc. Maybe we will see 500 metre and 2000 metre soon.

Australia is really good in swimming!
I have heard the name of Campbell too many times during my watching Kazan for days.

True.

White-dominated sports always get massive amount of medals given out in Olympics. Non-white dominated sports are always under threat of being removed from the Olympics.

Australia has an excellent swimming system and it is they who are willing to give their expertise to China. Americans don't give that expertise to China.

They teach things about technique, strategies on racing, sports nutrition, strengthening exercises, rest and recuperation. That's intellectual property that Australia are willing to share with China.

OT...squash is excluded from olympic becoz it is dominated by non-whites?

For sport to have popular appeal, It needs to be played among the global community, Nothing to do with white domination, Track and field is dominated by Black Northern American, Caribbean and sub Saharan Africans.. How does that figure ?

One vital aspect of our national identity is out sporting achievements.. A new nation with just 22 million people our dominance in world sport is second to none, Aussies value outdoorsy culture and are blessed with ideal weather conditions
