Figureskating-China's U.S.-born Zhu inconsolable after team event flop

China is a country with a history of 5000 years, the past 100 years have been the worst 100 years in our history. That is the bottom of our valley and does not represent the real ability of our civilization.
Why don't you mention the gunpowder, movable type printing, compass, pulp papermaking created by China.

But you are supa-dupa innovative....

Quad drone is not a Chinese innovation. The Japanese were selling them in the 90's as toys.

The smartphone is not a Chinese innovation.
Inventions and innovations have a very wide range

For example: The United Kingdom is the first country inventing the tank. But now, Russia and the United States are the strongest countries in tank technology.
- If you declare that the first country invented the tank is British -> I agree
- But if you claim that "M1 ABRAMS and T-90 are not US and Russian inventions and innovation, because the first country invented the tank as the UK" => I disagreed
Like Tesla cars are not inventions and innovation because Germany is the first country to create cars

Final. Your original question is Chinese innovations for 100 years. Not the first invention of history, and before never appeared
Name one item people across the world use every day that came from "innovative" China in the last 100 years. Your innovation development may be growing but 50000% of zero is still zero.

Tik Tok maybe?
That's why I wrote the brand name before.
- Electronic Cigarette
- Artemisinin
- DJI Drone
- Oppo, xiaomi, huawei .... smartphone

Sure, that's why we believe social media should be monitored and regulated, there are a lot of cruel people on it.

China's No. 1 men's figure skater Jin asks for kindness to under-pressure Zhu Yi

BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Two-time world bronze medalist Jin Boyang of China said it's understandable for an Olympic debutant to fumble after Zhu Yi delivered an error-riddled performance in the figure skating women's singles short program on Sunday.

Zhu, 19, fell early on in her routine and missed a triple Loop to finish last among 10 competitors with just 47.03 points in the team event. China eventually edged into the second phase of the team event -- the free skating with a total points of 22 thanks to two-time world title-winning pair Sui Wenjing/Han Cong's top-finish performance.

"Zhu is a hard-working girl, and should not be blamed for her first performance on the Olympic stage, whether it's good or bad," said Jin, who's a twice Olympian and finished fourth in the men's singles figure skating at PyeongChang 2018.

The 24-year-old, who helped China qualify for the team event free skating for the first time in history with a sixth-placed finish in the men's short program on Friday, delivered four clear jumps out of a total of seven and finished fourth in Sunday's free skate with 155.04 points.

"I counted over and over again last night to see how many points I need to collect today to help my team advance," said a tearful Zhu, calling back the huge pressure she felt before Sunday's competition.

Through the first-competition-day performance of the Chinese skaters on Friday, the country was in third place after the men's, pairs short programs and the ice dancing rhythm dance.
"Before I even started, I guess I just put a lot of pressure because I know everybody in China was pretty surprised with the selection for ladies, and I just really wanted to show them what I was able to do. But unfortunately, I didn't," she said.

Jin believed Zhu was under too much pressure.

"I fully understand her position. I was there too," said Jin. "She's under huge pressure as China's last performer in the team event short program and the sole skater in women's figure skating, especially after her selection over the two other girls."

"The Olympic Winter Games is a lifetime opportunity for every competitor. Hopefully we can gain more strength from the fact that we've gone all out and made history and leave the frustration of past errors behind us.

"The show must go on," he added, referring to the continuousness of the team event as well as the following individual events at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
After the men's free skate, China is placed fifth temporarily among five finalists, while the ROC team keeps in the lead on 45 points, the U.S. followed on 42 and Japan and Canada in third and fourth respectively with 39 and 30 points.

The figure skating competitions at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games will see the first gold medal in team event on Monday morning with the women's and pairs free skate and the ice dancing free dance of team event taking the rink.

US-born Chinese skater savaged online after Olympics blunder

China's Beverly Zhu had a disappointing day in the figure skating Manan VATSYAYANA AFP

Beijing (AFP) – China appeared Sunday to censor an outpouring of social media vitriol against a naturalised US-born figure skater who took a tumble at the Beijing Games and nearly cost the hosts dear.

The 19-year-old Beverly Zhu, who was born and raised in the United States but now competes for China under the name Zhu Yi, came last in the women's singles short programme in the team event.

It was a nervous performance from Zhu, who fell early on and looked to be holding back tears as she awaited her score.

China fell from third to fifth and only narrowly squeezed through to the free programme.

On China's Twitter-like Weibo the hashtag #ZhuYiFellOver racked up over 230 million views before being deactivated, with searches late Sunday afternoon returning no results.

Another hashtag -- #ZhuYiMessedUp -- remained accessible, clocking over 80 million views.

"I guess because I missed the first jump I was just kind of frazzled and felt a lot of pressure on landing that last jump, and unfortunately I popped it," said Zhu, who chose in 2018 to skate for China.

But there was little sympathy online, with some questioning the decision to select her ahead of a team-mate.

"Chen Hongyi is far better than her. I don’t know why someone like this was allowed to represent China," wrote one commenter.

Another added: "Sure, there's lots of pressure -- but show me an athlete who doesn’t go out there under pressure from their country and people?"

Some brought up Zhu's father, Zhu Songchun, a leading artificial intelligence expert who returned to China to head a key research institute in 2020.

"Congratulations to the Chinese figure skating team for making such a huge contribution to the field of computing!" wrote one, drily.

Rising anti naturalization sentiment contributes to this radical social media behavior, Zhu yi is just a victim to this sentiment. China naturlized too many foreign born athletes in recent years, causing strong backlash among the public.

What does this article mean? Is it a hint that Zhu Yi won the Olympic qualification because of her father?

Zhu Yi is the champion of the new American figure skating group. She was qualified by virtue of her strength.

my eyes are getting old. But she doesn’t look half Chinese. Is China getting a mercenary Olympic team of foreigners?

The debate is about朱易 and 陈虹伊 who is more qualified to represent China to compete in this Olympics, 陈虹伊 was replaced by 朱易 but 陈虹伊 has a lot of fans and sympathizers on social media.

陈虹伊 was replace by Zhuyi, now Zhuyi can compete in the Olympic Games and 陈虹伊 now just goes to 什刹海, a lake in Beijing to skate with the public
