People sometimes equate land reforms with socialism, but we are not advocating socialism or communism.
Private property rights and (regulated) capitalism are still the engine of growth but they must be balanced with workers' rights.

Dude - Who is saying to tax the products? Income tax is on Income/profit of person not sales.

Given how things work in Pakistan, I share @Cheetah786 concern that the rich farmers will simply pass the tax on to consumers.

This also includes intellectual capital, in a modern sense. John Locke and Adam Smith stressed the importance of private property rights. It ensures stability, an important factor in Commerce.

I am ignorant of Pakistani feudalism, but their indian counterparts have this nauseating sense of entitlement to power.

The changes also needs to happen at the grassroots as well.

An essential element of feudal domination is to keep the people poor, uneducated and God-fearing.

They are taught that suffering is good for the soul, change is evil, and obedience to the master is the will of God.

It's all very medieval and still very prevalent throughout Pakistan.

Lets see MQM enjoyed 5 years with PPP did not do any thing. Enjoyed almost 10 years with Musharaf , Enjoyed power with PMLN in 90s. So when MQM was in position to get these taxes implemented they did not do enough or any thing since PPP would had lost majority if MQM had left them which they did not until end of 5 years almost ended. Now creating drama only to make more trouble and get there goals. Goal isn't new province its new country which they denied in past. Killing Shia Sunni to create unrest etc etc. Its all part of a dirty game MQM playing.

PTI is party who has openly demanded taxes on agriculture from day one and would support MQM or any other party on this issue but problem is MQM is dramabaz party as i wrote above. MQM should be banned and all there leaders should be sent to jail for working against Pakistan.

I actually agree with you up there.....seriously. I mean enough of living with you and your likes! So the sooner the above happens, the sooner we get true autonomy and provincial freedom.

Agreed. But why hasn't PTI put up something to this effect in the parliament/National Assembly?

1: Establish minimum wage and benefits for farm workers.
2: Apply these wages retroactively all the way back to 1947 (plus interest!)
3. Any feudal who cannot pay up will have his land confiscated and allotted to the farmers..

I think land reforms is the real answer to this problem, as somebody has already stated. Once you implement land reforms, eliminating all big land lords, you automatically build a system that will work progressively towards a better overall system.

I also think the Government should repossess all agricultural land and lease very small chunks of it on 3 year basis to poor farmers free of cost for the first year. The farmers should pay a percentage of their profit to the Government at the end of each production cycle. And note the word 'profit' and not actual income

I hope once Imran Khan moves in interior Sindh, he would realize how necessary land reforms are to end feudalism !

Why no tax on agriculture income when every salaried person who earns many time less have to pay ?

How you will do land reforms when majority of parliamentarian are or linked to feudalism?

I think exception of tax, is not novel. without land reforms, it will only increase the prices.

here, our objective is to provide low cost agri products, so no need to put taxes.

As for who will bring land reforms, I think first step should be to win the case in SC that land reforms are not against Islamic laws. therefore, we must win SC case in favour of land reforms being according to Sharia. if its decided by SC against land reforms, we shall be doomed untill a revolution takes over !

and secondly we need an active movement against feudalism, by gaining access to information; their names, their family tree, their lands, their activities, so that our next generation is well aware of the evil and is not ready to accept

This war between feudal lords and bhattakhors will not end unless bhattakhors are given a considerable slice of cake.
