Local Pharma companies are interested and doing the research and development work, the huge presence of International pharma companies is detrimental to growth, they are only interested in sales and marketing, making the most of poor govt policies and no research and development done.

Correct. Some of the pharma companies in Pakistan are going for WHO compliance certification and PIC/S as well. Once we get these certifications, we can export our medicines to Europe and Middle East and we can expect production orders from other big pharma names from West.Think this is about other vaccines like anti rabies, anti venom and others. And not particularly Covid-19 vaccines.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s domestic pharmaceutical companies have shown cumulative average growth rate (CAGR) of 13.1 percent in the last four years, outperforming multinational companies (MNCs), which observed a CAGR of 9.34 percent, a report prepared by IQVIA noted.
Emerging faster than the MNCs, the local pharmaceutical companies’ quarterly revenues surged to Rs320 billion till March 31, 2020 compared with Rs195.75 billion as of March 31, 2016. Similarly, MNCs increased their quarterly market size to Rs143.2 billion by the end of the first quarter of 2020 as against Rs100.2 billion in Q12016.

Still we need more MNCs as a technology transfer process , we need more raw materials industry to maintain the cost of finish product. MNCs still have extremely better quality standards as campare to local pharmaceutical. Most of local pharmas are business oreinted and makes lot of compromises on drug quality while the multinationals don't compromise on quality hence their profit margin is narrow comparitively.Think this is about other vaccines like anti rabies, anti venom and others. Only getz managed to achieved WHO while their is no sign of any other local pharma getting who certification in upcoming few years.
MNCs do the research every where even in Pakistan its due to their training and commitments with locals that they have produced skilled people by sharing their standards and knowledge while locals on other hand are more focused on marketing and financial growth, and 3rd world countries like Pakistan focusing on market instead of research and quality will get you lots of money but on other hand we should forget of dreaming about getting access to the first world countries.
