Most Americans that have been in America for many generations actually do have some native American DNA. The vast majority of Americans have no native DNA, and the 2010 census had only 1.7% identify themselves of native or part native decent. I agree with you, that being "American" is culture, but you ruled him out because he was a "Pakistani". If you didn't know his race, he would sound like many of the right-wing leaning White Americans that you have today. So culturally he is like them, and culturally they would say you are "un-American" and full of sh*t (apologies for usage of the word, just putting things in context). So who has the right culture? Self Identification aside, the reason why I said that a small minority of folks have native DNA is based of studies such as the Cornell University Genetic Ancestry Project, sample size aside, many other studies have also reported similar findings of i.e. that of around 4-5%. Yes, I am aware of some African Americans having native DNA. I freely admit that I don't know a great deal on the topic, could you please direct me to the books you have, on how prevalent native DNA is within the US population?

For his information, My wife is mixed race( half french/half african) and she is not a rioter/;ooter/robber/thug.
